Will be interesting to see how close UNI game gets. Night game with the halftime show and it is a kids game ($25 kid tickets) and probably bring in some casual UNI fans as well. Bet that one might get there.

Good point. I may take my kids to that one. Early in season.

Barta said they may eventually fill in the gaps in the South end zone with seating, if future attendance demands it.

I guess I do not see the appeal of this "improvement", That being said, only 2 games will sell out this year; ISU and WI. The rest will have plenty of tickets left. Even Nebby. Its generally freezing that day and not everyone is down with the Black Friday thing.
You have posted for a long time. I get the sense that you don’t think a change to anything is an improvement...I don’t especially like change either, but that new endzone looks incredible.

The grass knothole seats being back would be an improvement. I was all in support of the 2006 project. I even donated to it.

There are no bathrooms or concessions in the North endzone this year. That should bring back.

The only seating improvement I care about would be to have an actual freakin' seat!

Until there are individual theater like seats, the width of the average backside in Kinnick on game day means that your actual "seat" on those stupid bleachers could be swallowed up by the wide bodies in your row. Not to mention the knees in your back if you can sit down.

Since moving back to the state a decade ago I've been to at least one home game every year. That probably ends this year.

Seatbacks do help quite a bit.

Bought a ticket from a scalper for a Michigan [ think it was the Witovet game] and my seat was right in the middle of a whole bunch of Wolverines and about midway through the 3rd quarter one of the Michigan fans tapped me on the shoulder and said this was the best place he'd ever watched a college football game, way better than the Big House. Never been prouder to be a Hawk fan.

If we are anything below 70,000, you might as well call us Iowa State.

Sheer capacity is important, but it's not everything. Autzen Stadium in Oregon is one of the best, most intimidating venues in the country. It only seats 54,000. Boone Pickens Stadium in Oklahoma is also a great venue, yet it seats just 56,790. Kinnick has a feature that makes it almost entirely unique in college football. The extremely tight sidelines. Even after they were widened last year. When opposing players or coaches talk about what makes Kinnick great, they don't mention crowd noise nearly as much as they mention the fans being right on top of the action. I wouldn't trade Kinnick for anywhere.

Always liked having seats behind the visitors bench. You would see the players and coaches constantly turning around and looking at the crowd and you knew that we were in their head. Had to be super intimidating for them.

Yea behind the visiting bench provides unique opportunities for messing the the opposition. I remember a game against Illannoy in the mid 2000' sitting next to a guy who flicked ketchup and relish from packets on the players the whole game.

I'm totally fine with the new capacity ... because ... that North end zone is really looking nice ... Love the look and the vertical element of it. Heck, it's getting harder and harder to sell out games ... and will continue to get harder as technology allows us to sit at home ...

I'm very curious to find out if that part of the stadium will be even louder

Pat Angerer and Mitch King should be given permanent season tickets behind the visitor bench.
