A perverted campaign against LGBT rights in Houston

So do businesses let dudes go into ladies rooms?

Only, if there female customers don't mind.

If your female customers complain about the seat being left up and dongs hanging about, then I would imagine they'd stop it.

Yes, of course...and how does that stop sex offenders from entering the bathrooms?

OR, alternatively, are you able to admit that this has nothing to do with the proposed law?

I was at the mall this weekend, not in drag, looking like a prototypical Iowa male. I could have entered every single women's bathroom without resistance, I know so because I have a daughter and I waited for her.

If we pass non-discrimination laws, how the f*** does that change this?

Because then you put the business owner in the position of choosing one pissed-off customer over another under penalty of law.

Pissed off female customer never comes back, and the "female" customer gets to sue and probably never comes back, either.

It's a Catch-22 for the business owner.

Where does liability lay now vs. your proposal.

Why didn't you? What would have been the worst thing that could have happened to you?

Lol, is that really what you think? Because I don't think you like the standpoint that you are pushing, that laws will stop the badguys. I'm pretty sure I've seen you argue that laws only stop those who obey in other threads.

But, specifically for me? I didn't go in because it would likely be A) Embarrassing for other people, B) Embarrassing for my daughter, C) Embarrassing for me and D) societally embarrassing, and in that order.

I'm saying that the proposal in Houston that the advertisement was fighting against had nothing to do with this and was simply and ignorant fear tactic aimed at the ignorantly feared.

So, you care about other people more than you care about your daughter? ;)

Good point, but really I don't think she would care that much, at least not as much as other girls in there, just as I would care even less than her. She knows I'm weird and embarrassing, strangers don't.

Ok. Now address the liability piece from a business owners perspective.

Why is it an "ignorant" fear? Do you not see the potential for business owners to get stuck in the middle of heated disputes here, no matter what their views about gender identity might be?

Because his theory of shame being a sufficient replacement for discrimination laws is wrong. You need the legal basis to hold their feet to the fire.
Will you also support legal action, if a ghey owned business doesn't hire someone due to them not also being ghey?

Good point.

Now I will expect you to make the same remarks in gun control threads.

Oh believe me, a lot of people know that Iowa.

Actually, you'd be lucky to not get tagged with a sex offender title yourself.

Sure if sexual orientation is a protected class. It's not in most places and that's not what this topic is about either. But it's not a problem for me is a straight person serves my drinks or checks my coat or stars in gay porn.

How about I put it this way:

A law is being discussed allowing race as a protected class, then the advertisement shows a black male entering a little white boy's restroom and the black male "sex offender" (according the to text) goes in to assault the boy.

Is that advertisement legit? Well f*** no, of course not.

Well I guess if you ignore sex offense laws and sentencing, then sure, why not.

And if some "cross dresser" did it? Oh wait, so would they....as pointed out by the OP article.

Okay, so let's just say "fark it" and have purely unisex bathrooms. Use any bathroom you like. What could possibly go wrong?

You say that now, but the second a claim comes your way that indicates you didn't hire someone because they were straight, THEN you will understand the points being made in this thread. LGBT rights most certainly has everything to do with discrimination.
Let's say you get accused of not hiring a woman, or a black man, due to discrimination. In this case, you didn't actually do that, but you are being accused of it, because there is a place for such an accusation, due to the 'protections'. How cool are you with it then?

You are missing the point. The advertisement is attempting to shut down the entire law, which has nothing to do with bathroom-rape, ostensibly on the basis of theoretical raperestrooms.

Is this where you pretend you were a business owner again and we all laugh at you?

Urinatimg in public can get you a SO title.

Very cool. The current system already deals with this fine. Pull your head out of your ass. If reality were as you state here, all racial or religious minorities would be millionaires just by claiming discrimination.

Bingo. I deal with this crap daily in my profession. I really should be for more anti-discrimination laws... the more things there are to file a charge over, the more job security for me.

How about a gay person not hiring a Muslim who hates gays?

Interesting. My thoughts: The business owner would be refusing to hire a person on the basis that they hate gays, therefore that would be acceptable. The fact that he is Muslim is simply extraneous. Now, obviously he will claim the hatred is because of religion, but I don't think that nexus would suffice. Also, it would, likely, interfere with day/day business, since I presume all gay people hire people to cater to other gay people....right?

But try this one: Reknowned non-circumcised penis photographer is hiring, but refuses to hire someone who is cut to model for them...discrimination against Jews? I say no, not enough nexus and interferes with business.

No, most of them are nuisance suits. Something really horrible has to happen in order to get punitive damages and real money.

There is a particular history with Iowa on these matters......

Exactly...unless you believe "The Tradition" and his claim to work closely with these types of cases....the lawyers get all of the money! It is absurd to think that every protected-class person being fired has been successful at bilking money simply because they are in that class.

See, you try to be funny, but you fail to see the big picture. Nothing in this proposed law, or any other stops this from occurring, and in this specific case shouldn't want to.

Here's the thing though, I have witnessed several accusations that had absolutely not base, or truth to them. I had an ex-girlfriend who had multiple cases pushed against here, and ALL of them were thrown out. Not to mention that she was as far from bigoted as you could get. You would have been great friends with her, as she loved the gheys, and being part puerto rican herself, she wasn't racist in anyway.

Anyways, the false accusations happen all of the time. Why? Because there is a ridiculous belief that by giving special protections, you will therefore even the playing field.

Most people are cut these days.

Check your Jew hate.
