Ok folks, you have to tell me why so many of you are so accepting of mediocrity for Iowa Basketball. Maybe 3 or 4 years ago new coach new team building process but certainly not now. I get it that this team is young but you still have Jok and Baer who have played multi- minutes prior to this year and some very talented freshman who will and can make a big impact. Why is everyone so accepting of mediocrity telling everyone that hey we are rebuilding , preparing for the future... The expectations for this team and a seasoned coach are way to low.. I expect and hold Fran responsible that year end and year out take Iowa to the NCAA tournament.

I am not going to accept that Iowa can have a good year or two then rebuild and do it all over again, I am not accepting that we can continue to go through coaches every 4 or 5 years.

If Iowa does not make the NCAA then the program has failed, for gods sake if you are not one of the best 64 teams in the country or top 5 teams in the Big Ten then what have you been doing.

First you started a thread "Negative Nellies" and want everybody to sit back and enjoy this season of young players. Which makes sense. Now, you start this thread about not wanting to accept mediocre basketball. So, tell us which side of the fence you on now.

its called bipolar posting.

repeat after me..
I am not going to accept
I am not going to accept
I am not going to accept
I am not going to accept
I am not going to accept

Whats an OP?

Results are something that have to be accepted. They may be disappointing, but we have to accept them. They are official.

Gleaning what we can from them is what we all do. "This was good/bad." "They should do this, not that."

But, in the end, we have to accept what has already transpired.

This is my motivation! You are right! I am done with mediocrity.

I have a mediocre job, drive a mediocre car, live in a mediocre house in a mediocre state and have a mediocre education. I will no longer continue to support these Hawkeyes who have yet to achieve greatness!

Tomorrow I am changing my life. If not tomorrow then the next day for sure.

Accepting growth and development. We have 1 returning starter and a couple of guys with some varying degrees of minutes off the bench. There will be some ups and downs with maybe more downs but by the end of the season it could be looking pretty good for another strong 3-4 year run. I'll take that.

Got it... Hey that's fine just tell your professors your young and will grow into the future.. You are performing at a D but that's acceptable because You are young and inexperienced oh hey Doctor I know I can't expect you to do a successful heart operation I will just wait 3 years or so and then I will come back

well you did confuse us when you created the Nervous Nellie thread...now that you have cleared that up.

No one is ok with mediocre...I would think you would agree that the last 4 years have been a little better than mediocre. So if you only want to talk about this year...yes the first 7 games have been mediocre. I'm not sure I follow your wait 3 years or so? Are you saying you think Iowa BB will be mediocre for another 3 years?

I agree with you...youth & inexperience only last for so long. The question is how long is too long...that can be debated if you want. Some feel that under Fran (entering into his 7th year) should not have a 7th year of being mediocre (if that's how the season ends up being). There is some merit to that...but I tend to try to look at the overall body of results....just not a small sample (7 games)...

In the previous 11 years prior to Fran we were selected to the NCAA 3 times..we've been selected 3 of the last 3....so probably fair to say progress. So lets see how this year pans out...but one thing is for sure..there is no way we should need to wait another 3 years ... so you should be able to come back sooner than that.

Just curious what heart surgeon do you root for?

Go follow Duke or Kentucky. By the you know the players names they'll be gone. Kentucky may never have a graduate, but they don't have down years.

Fran has players with potential and he's had teams compete at high levels. I believe he'll get this group there as well. If you chose not to wait the bandwagon will let you off at anytime.

We've got more talent coming in and the future looks like fun to me.

No doubt, that was a pretty bad analogy! What do you think Tom Isso, thinks about his situation right now? Never know what you'll get with a young team until their feet our in the fire.

Actually, I suspect Kentucky considered it a down year when they failed to make the NCAA tournament a couple of years ago.

Wow, is this a crappy post/thread. Iowa is Kentucky, damn it, and we are always good! Or maybe we should play nothing but easy teams so we can think we are really good.
