Americas Elite triumph again.

You could build your own house, make your own clothes, or grow your own food. What else do you truly NEED?
I already pointed this out, but if you don't have to buy anything, then what's the point of having a job? It suggests that having a job is completely voluntary, as well. And if so, then neither consumption, nor income taxes, constitute theft because you choose to have them.

What kind of sense does that make? What happens if you want to have a job to save money, but you also have a small farm where you grow all the food you need for your family? Do you think people will never want luxury items or something?

You are quite the weird fella, you know that?

I'm curious why you consider income taxes theft, but not other kinds of taxes?
How are income taxes not theft? It's the government forcing you to pay them money directly from YOUR earnings. It's just like with the mobs as someone said.

Pay us, or we stop protecting you and not only that, we'll bring the harm to you as well.

Less advanced, that's the point. Not only do you want to live in Somalia, you want a prehistoric Somalia. F'ing delicious! Now who is self centered?
Perhaps, but as far as we've come technologically and structurally, we seem to have lost touch with the importance of life and the spiritual connection we have to this planet. Do you simply wish for comfort? What do you think is so much better about the nature of humans then compared to the nature of humans now?

I don't think human nature was better in some pre technological times. I think just the opposite. I think they were more scared, less secure, more superstitious and more prone to violence and brutality. I'm pretty optimistic about human trajectory if we just face empirical results and avoid utopian flings with folly.

Wow...

At least you're not being presumptuous.

I was sure trying to be, read it again. Lots of presumptions in there.
I was trying to be sarcastic.

I try not to be too presumptuous. Not to mention, measuring how you think people were then (whenever ago) to how you think people are now is not always an accurate standard. But, be my guest.

We know. You try very hard not to think.

It's interesting how people have evolved to expect, and even encourage, being threatened by force to hand-over what they earn to the government. And, we do know that when the country was founded, your wages from your labor was absolutely NOT meant to be taxed at all. That was a country worth fighting for back then.

This country is more tyrannical now than before the Revolutionary War.

What would you replace those taxes with? Soup is still thinking, maybe you could help him out.

Umm, nothing. You get to keep your money.

There's no turning back now. People like you have forced the society to be dependent on the government. They're never "free" except in a poetic sense. They're never truly self-sufficient. They have evolved into the exact opposite. It doesn't take long to realize just how completely f*cked the people are if the system locks-up in the slightest form. Most people have no idea how to provide for themselves on a basic level. You think we're "less scared" now? You wait until this fiat-run system collapses and you'll see scared like you've never seen it.

Insanity.

It was tariffs and excise taxes. Remember when we had that big argument and you asked about sales taxes and how those taxes differed from the income tax?
In this thread you said you didn't like tariffs, hence my confusion.

Protective tariffs. I said it earlier in the thread, but I apologize since I usually use the qualifying adjective "non-protective" in front of the word tariffs.
Its cool. I think trump is the only guy talking about tariffs. Are you going to vote for him?
