And just like that....the season is over?

Image the seniors and their families. Ryan Kreiner's parents didn't get to watch their son in the BTT or the NCAA finish off a wonderful college career. Imagine Garza and his Dad not getting to take a "victory lap" on an unbelievable junior season. Imagine Joe W going into the off season with a bad taste in his mouth.

This is an epic letdown for the fans. But, it's unimaginable disappointment for the players and their families.

Very well said...

A few years ago they moved the B10 tourney dates around and it felt extremely weird.

6 days ago I was bummed out about not seeing UNI in 3 or 4 more tournament games.

I never saw this coming. No baseball, no NBA, not even hockey???

Gonna be a long spring.

Imagine Bakari Evelyn playing for three schools in five years. After all of that time, to finally be on a team above .500 and in the NCAA tournament for his first time. Sucks for everyone. Nothing is guaranteed for the younger guys either.

President Lincoln, wise as usual, had this ancient proverb displayed on his desk in the Oval Office: "And this, too, shall pass." It came in handy during that contest known as the Civil War which, of course, would not have happened but for the damned media.

Anyway, I've been trying to remember that proverb the last three years or so, and now this virus happens. And so all I can say is try to remember Lincoln's favorite proverb. It's not easy, but it's true. What else can we do?

Over the years, I have married a great amount of my emotions to college football and basketball. Since I am currently facing a few challenges, basketball is a time that distracts and sometimes heals. This is signifigant to no one but me. But, it's upsetting to lose it. I've experienced the Tournament (excluding one miss) since Iowa '55. If they canceled sunrise tomorrow, it would disturb me less.

It's another great year of "what ifs" to end Iowa sports. What if Petras is better than Stanley surrounded by weapons? What if Goodson and the line ignite the running game? What if JB, JW, CFJ, LG, CMac, JT, and JN are firing on all cylinders? What if we learn what defense is? What if Iowa WBB can churn out sensational talent yearly between different positions?

2020-2021 is looking like a fun year for Iowa fans.

It leaves me with a weird feeling....I am still in the mindset of tournament time...B10-NCAA, etc.

Now I have to start contemplating how this last season looks since it is done and I am stuck in a different mindset......it may take me a while to start looking forward....or not
Strange olympics havent cancelled yet.

Wednesday night was weird watching TV. First the NBA news, then as I was watching the Neb vs IND game, you start to see Hoiberg get sicker. Then listening to all the cable news shows, it was the first time I really felt overwhelmed about all of this. It was very strange watching those teams play yesterday and seeing those people in the stands and just wondering what was 'floating around in the air' inside that stadium. I will miss all the tournaments, but I am kinda relieved it was all canceled. I do think the smarter thing was to make that decision a day earlier so the teams didnt end up traveling to Indianapolis and risk catching anything though.

All true, but how about Bakari? Fran singled him out as someone he really felt bad for. He said when he and Barta talked to the team, you could really see the disappointment on his face. 5th year player, NEVER played on a winning team until this season, NEVER played in the tournament. BE stepped up at the end of the year and helped give solid minutes in reserve, and now he's been denied his one chance. Feel really bad for him......

H1Ni, Eboli, Swine Flu to name a few killed many not just made them sick. I don't want to disrespect the sports decisions made since those in charge felt like their ass was on the line. This case is stoked abnormally by the media versus the other cases. No athletic responses ever beyond, 'taking healthy and mindful precautions.' Why is this SOOO different? I can think of a reason but this is not the correct board for that.

I think what’s stoking these decisions is the professionals in the CDC, public health organizations, and the WHO based on their experience and expertise. The large organizations like the NBA the NHL, MLB, and the NCAA are losing 100s of millions of dollars.... I would bet they’ve vetted the information and don’t make a move like this without knowing this is a real threat.
