The man has had bad eyesight for at least 33 years. I hope his license has been revoked and that maybe he will get the charity of one of those seeing eye-dog places.

are they going to prevent robo umps?
I’m sure for as long as they can. Literally every aspect of baseball could be ump’d with modern tech but some people love the tradition and human element. All the umps should have to do is get an electronic signal and do their big theatrical dances they like to do to signal the call

I used to work with a guy who got up to doing AAA and spring training games, but couldn’t get the call for the majors. He frequently wondered how he couldn’t break through while “that blind asshole Hernandez” was still umping.
