Angelo Ferrari #1

I don’t think we want the #1 stamp on our guys.
Feels like it’s the #2-#10 guys that have been raking in the titles. Even Spencer was #2
and they still start 0-0 as freshmen

From Flo's Big Board, #1 recruits:

2016: Hall - 1 title
2017: Fix - 0
2018: Steveson - 2
2019: Kerk - 0
2020: Amos - 0
2021: Figueroa - 0
2022: Feldman - 0

2023 is too early to evaluate so far. Shapiro is #1 and looks the part to win at least one.

Compared to #2 recruits:

2016: Suriano - 2
2017: Spencer - 3
2018: Brooks - 3 and counting
2019: Schultz - 0
2020: KOT - 2 and counting
2021: Facundo - 0
2022: Swiderski - 0

2023 is Kueter. Whether he wins or not probably depends as much on how much football interferes with wrestling.

So, the #1 recruits since 2016 have accumulated 3 titles with only Kerk (and possibly Figs) looking likely win any more. By comparison, the #2 recruits have raked in 10 with Brooks and KOT in a great position to add to the hardware and extend the lead.

I think the guys who wrestle do want that spot. Otherwise why go to in season tournaments? Wouldn't you want to be #1?

Angelo just won 165 with a stacked bracket. Why all the desire to bump our guys up from optimal weights?
Wasn't it stated that he cut a bit to get to 165? If that's true what is Angelo's optimal weight? I'd rather see him take a RS and add some more of that Ferrari muscle to his frame and be a solid 184 for 4 years than see him trying to suck down to 165 or battling with Arnold for 174.

hat makes sense if he can’t make 165.

If there is no room for him his freshman year at 174, agree he should redshirt to add good weight and be a legit title threat at 184. He doesn’t want to redshirt, but also dreams of being a 4 timer, and doubt if that happens as an undersized true freshman at 184. 174 will be a long shot for him if KOT bumps up his senior year.

sorry but NOT sorry to say...If Cass IS NOT ELIGIBLE this year...and BK isn't wrestling then I would LOVE to see Gable win and deny PSU any other champs. Not wishing anyone any injuries or stuff like that... just tired of the hype and Rhetoric for Kerk after he beat Davidson who was Basically wrestling with only one healthy shoulder and arm.

I think this is Kirk’s last year?? I agree, the fewer champs PSU gets the better. It also helps protect our scoring record. The only way he doesn’t make the finals though is an injury or has a match where he doesn’t feel right mentally in the match, and the other guy wrestles out of his mind, which is basically what Spencer said happened to him in the semifinal last year.

We won't be seeing Gable

I don't think we see Gable
Probably not, but in the WWE , it’s about creating suspense and drama, and then launching a big surprise. That would fit him jumping back on Minnesota's team just in the nick of time to qualify for nationals 😉

Not Kerkvliet's last year, and he's already said he's coming back next year.

Meanwhile guys like Lugo only got 3.
Exactly. All those seniors (Lugo, Hall, Cenzo) who actually got screwed over by the COVID cancellation can’t get four tourneys but Kerk, who was being redshirted during the cancelation season, gets to compete five times.

That totally makes sense.

You left out the part about ADS spanking him in the state final, which, and this is just a thought, may have contributed to dropping him to #2.
you are so dumb harry styles GIF

where do have Deluca? Flo has him at 22 which seems low
i have him #18.

there are a lot of pro's/con's.

his 'pro' is that he has a win over Blaze (and a loss to him).

and blaze has a win over Forrest (forrest also majored blaze).

the cons are that the Blaze win (and, to a lesser extent, Beric Jordan) are his only big wins. and he's 0-for-4 against lilledahl who has lost to forrest (among others). he also has the lost to knox who has split with bassett and who lost to blaze.

you could really go down a rabbit hole splitting hairs. #22 is sort of reasonable but i haven't looked at Flo's so idk who they have ahead of Leo.

*Edit - actually i went and looked back at 2021. Leo won Fargo and teched Forrest in the semi's and Brock Mantanona (who is also P4P) in finals.

so that's a plus.

but he also had a 2-2 outing at Cadet Trials in 2022 with losses to Davino and Carlos Stanton.

he didn't go to Fargo in 2022 or ever go to S32 (that's a typical Blair thing).

I think the ranking is fair imo. It also includes every class, so I’d assume DeLuca will be close to if not comfortably in the top 10 2025 Big Board.
