And that for me is the most motivating factor to eliminate the electoral college. As long as it’s in place it will be RvD.
BTW, it matters not at all how much you like that third option. You can declare that third option is the absolute love of your life. You'll never sniff it. Not an opinion - that's just how it works.
The politicians don't care. It won't change until there is a legit 3rd party and the Dems and Repubs have made that nearly impossible. You are going to be standing on the sidelines for awhile.

A third party candidate will never win the presidency under the current system. NEVER.
No one is stopping you from running for mayor or governor or Congress on whatever ticket you like. Until you have people willing to do that with a message that actually resonates, you've got nothing. Build a party. Stop pretending voting for a sacrificial lamb every four years means anything.

Well considering we had some presidents that owned other human beings, we can agree to disagree.
The FFs intended for the president to be chosen by the House. They didn't trust the citizens to make that choice - they expected every election to be thrown to the House. If you think that's a better option, then pursue multiple parties. Your choice is clear - two major parties fighting for a majority of the 538 electoral votes or the lame-duck outgoing House chooses the president.
