Until 50 percent of the country learns about how Socialism already works in the United States, it isn't the scary European Socialism, we would never get anywhere near Communism, and that they already partake in Socialism, without complaint and often without knowing, someone like AOC would have zero chance.

People are ignorant and easily scared of what they don't understand.

Point of personal privilege: I’m in support of socialist programs (disability benefits, universal healthcare, UBI will become necessary at some point unless you want more and more desperate people breaching the walls of your gated communities). In that sense I find it great that there are a lot of young people interested in this stuff.

Then there are the absolute loons who show up at a DSA convention with multiple safe rooms and jazz hands demanded in lieu of clapping (even Beatnik snaps didn’t make the cut with these little roses).


None of this matters, though, if we don’t first solve racism! I really think we can undo it with the right kinds of discrimination!
