I voted GOOD.

but the question should have been more specific because I participated in a threesome last night ..hence: my vote.

Yes you should feel bad about starting this thread because it is not winning.

Life lesson learned.

the funny part of this type of mentality is how few of the people that hold this belief have ever risen above a participation level. Guess what, you weren't good enough either in almost every single case in just about everything you do. Exceptional talent is just that. Exceptional. The truth is the very worst player on the worst basketball team in the field of the NCAA tournament would wipe the floor with you. I remember taking a guy to a professional soccer game in London once and about half way through he turned to me and honestly believed he could step in the field and hold his own. His highest level of soccer prowess was playing high school ball in Des Moines. He had zero clue as to what he was looking at it talking about and I guarantee he holds the same belief that participation trophies are horrible.

So much of this attitude about athletics and participation is nothing more than pure nonsense. Athletics is fun and has their place but so much perspective has been lost as to their proper place.

You people are making these claims and having these condescending attitudes about kids that have just finished in the top 32 in the country. Guys that have out in more hard work at something than most of you will put into anything. That have more talent than you comprehend because they are playing against guys with more talent.

Last I checked there is a walk on process. You should check it out. Maybe you would be allowed to participate but I doubt it.

Thus the reason so many millennials love a guy like Bernie ...why should they be successful and get good grades and earn their way into a university when it will simply be handed to them for free should he become President. Same goes for those who feel that just because you worked harder and were more successful, you don't deserve a big mansion or a second yacht...that extra money should go to those who at least got out of bed and took a crap each morning before filing welfare.

Pathetic that many of you think winning and losing is irrelevant and simply showing up is all that counts. No wonder this great nation is slowly becoming a laughing stock.

I blame my generation, generation X for creating this attitude in the millennials.

good work can be too picky ab

Unfortunately, generation X created the attitude of the millennials.
Bad parenting played a role, yes...but society in general and a shift to the liberal mindset did most of the heavy lifting.

I respectfully disagree. Can't blame liberals for everything although many like to, just as many like to blame conservatives for everything.

I know ZERO conservatives who like participation trophies. I do know quite a few liberals who think they're the bees knees.

Again, winning and losing is a part of life...the "well, as long as you showed up and gave a little effort you're just as much a winner as the person who outscored you" mentality is a cancer to our way of life and what made this nation great.

Nailed it!!! Great post and excellent poll.

I am pretty conservative and don't have a problem with participation awards. However I don't believe they should be given out once you get to Kindergarten.

I don't know about participation trophies, but I see millennials with both very conservative parents and also liberal parents who have very similar attitudes. The "I am special" attitude. Of course not all are this way, but there is some truth in the millennial stereotype. I'm just not convinced that it is a liberal, conservative thing. You are. Not going to argue because neither of us will change our minds.

I tend to agree with Herkuleez, but I like your wisdom!!!

Participation trophies? Why the straw man? This years senior class has accomplished more than the OP ever has.

Iowa's seniors won 89 games, third-most for any class in school history. They helped turn around a program decimated by Todd Lickliter's three-year tenure. Under Fran McCaffery, they posted four upper-division Big Ten Conference finishes and three straight NCAA Tournament bids.
