Honestly, based on all evidence democracy is least threatened if he wins. It is what his vile supporters in office at all levels will do if he loses that could threaten democracy.

You say no matter who gets elected there will still be a democracy... I wouldn't be so sure. Trump tried to disenfranchise 80 million voters in 2020 by trying to strong-arm Georgia officials into "finding" him more votes (we've all heard the taped phone call), by trying the fake electors route in multiple states, by convincing his misinformed supporters to come to DC on Jan. 6 to "fight like hell" and disrupt the electoral count. People who worked in his White House testified under oath (penalty of jail time if they lied) that he did nothing for hours while police officers were being beaten and overrun, putting members of congress and his own VP in danger. So HE could stay in power. The first time ANY president of the US has done so. Again, defying the votes of 80 million people. That's not democracy.
It shouldn't matter your political persuasion - Republican, Democrat, Libertarian, Independent, Green Party, etc. Someone who tries to overturn an election has no business being in public office of any kind in this country again. That's not how we do it in the USA, FFS.
While I agree, there are more than a few on here that claim every Republican is a Trump supporter, so dead to them. Some of the same are on the basketball board so sort of an interesting quandary.

They program their followers to have zero empathy for anyone not like them. And their followers are incredibly programmable...
