Tom Brands style of coaching. Lot of talk and not so much on resultsOriginally posted by Ihawkd9times:
No effing idea why Brooks wasnt on his offense in that 3rd. He was doing nothing but wasting time. Same for Evans. Its getting old!
Glad McCutcheon beat him like that...seriously. Its BS that needs to stop. Had no business losing that.
Really how far off are the folks dogging the Iowa style after watching Evans and Brooks last matches.
If I didnt know better they are trying to wrestle exactly like Morningstar use to. Not wanting to go down that road but at some point I mean if it looks and walks like a chicken it must be a ....
Call us whatever you want but you cant expect to sit on a 2 point lead like a fat cat for the WHOLE entire 3rd period. Its not like McCutcheon was displaying all world defense. Brooks didnt change leval or even attemp anything other than a underhook tie up. We should be finishing guys off in thos esituation in both 174 & 184.Originally posted by 1stplacehawk:

Vall, I am still laughing over this one.Originally posted by Vallholl:
So here's a little story about my day. When Mrs. V returned from St. Thomas (work trip) on Thursday, I explained that I had wrestling all day on Sat. This AM, I took the computers and hangers to the basement saying, "I'm going to go iron some shirts and listen to wrestling."
She comes down stairs and find me with two computers and the radio going. I've got my black/gold tube socks on and am under three Iowa blankets.
She looks at me and says "what are you doing?" (not in a good way)
"Ironing!"
"No you're not, you're just listening to wrestling." Then a bunch of talking followed and I said I could drive to dance.
After she left, the boy looks at me and said, "The iron isn't even plugged in"
Anyway, thanks WDM.
This isn't even a good troll.Originally posted by Jcchawk:

All 3 are in good position to qualify, regardless.Originally posted by Vallholl:

2-1
Coming back at 5 PM.

Three in consol. need to win to make Nationals (esp Moore and Kelly).
Doubt it. Don't think he has one quality win. Not sure what his RPI is, and it may not even matter depending on how injured he isOriginally posted by whejoe:
Jake Short went 0-2. Does he get a wild card?
Agree 100%. Tom Brands has had pretty much the same amount of success as Jim Zalesky, if you ignore the fact that he's had a lot more success. If not for the fact that he's had a lot more success, he would have had pretty much the same amount of success. So if you disregard the fact that Brands has been a lot more successful, you could pretty much say that Brands and Zalesky have had just about the same amount of success. And Zalesky got run off for his lack of success, so just connect the dots.Originally posted by hawks_82:
Alright I am sorry, but saying that Zalesky was run off for similar results? Brands' results have been superior to Zaleskys in every category with the exception of Big Ten champs.
Love tournament days. Morons are always out in force

All 3 are cinches for at large/wild cards. We will have 10.Originally posted by wasdt21:
if brooks, moore , and Kelly all win next match will qualify 10 for nats. gilman has not clinched but he would have to lose three in a row.

There is no comparison to what Z left Tom. Under-achieving Falck, probably a full scholly eating T-shirt, undersized Beatty, and Perry didn't win a championship before Brands also.Originally posted by Azchief32:
Did you just seriously compare Morningstar, Perry, and Dennis to Juergens, Ironside, McGinness, Joe Williams, Fullhart, and Hand (Three returning champs)? Think Gable left the cupboard a little bit more than Zalesky did to Brands.
Brands has never finished out of the top five except when using Zalesky's guys. The problem with Zalesky is that he did once the Gable spigot was turned off. While no Coach is exempt from criticism, lets not pretend that Brands didn't have to rebuild a program versus being handed the keys to a Ferrari like Zalesky.
