A couple of interesting games tonight: Michigan, who have only played seven games is visiting Maryland who are coming off a difficult road win at Wisconsin. Minnesota has a bit of a crossroads game at Wisconsin, who are not likely to lose two in a row at home. Just a typical bloodbath night in the conference. Guess I'll skip the noisemakers and party hats tonight and watch some hoops.

Go to a sports bar offering a champagne toast. Watch basketball and bring the new year in.

Was hoping for more from Maryland tonight. Michigan’s schedule is pretty easy... need them to take an L soon...

MD needs to pull this one out, that way Michigan joins everyone else in the L column (at least once).

Two exciting teams playing high speed ball. I could see the Hawks games with them resembling last years shootout vs Mich.

Well that was an absolute rock fight.. Wisconsin makes teams offenses look inept

Wisconsin's defense is good but Minnesota missed a ton of open looks. In the stretch I watched in the 1st, Minnesota missed 6 straight 3s and missed at least 4 inside 5 ft, including the 7 footer having his shot altered by Davidson.

Michigan is good. Dickerson is a force.

Their B1G schedule is unbelievable. How did they pull that off? Because of the comparative ease of their schedule, they probably have the inside track to the title right now.

Their first road test is not until Feb. 14th at Wisconsin! They catch us and Illinois only once, both at home. Wow. It’s all set up for them.

18-20 from FT line for MIchigan and only around 4-6 for Maryland and Michigan shot around 58% with Hunter Dickinson their stud freshman center 10/11 from field and 6/7 from FT line. Maryland really went off from 3pt line but not enough.

Garza had a little bit of trouble with the length of MInnesota's 7'1 Robbins. Hunter Dickinson is same height. Michigan probably a tough matchup for Iowa.

I will take it for once. The last 3 times Michigan has been one of the best teams in the conference (2019, 2018, and 2014) they played KenPom's toughest conference schedule of any contender.

Still not likely to win the conference considering the insane amount of depth and talent, but they have enough to probably be in the conversation the last few weeks.

Hold it right there. MN double and triple teamed Garza and he still had 32 pts and 17 rbs. If that is "having trouble", I'll take it!

Also, Brandon Johnson was 8-9 from the 2 against Iowa but has gone 1-6 in the 2 games since. Go figure.

11 for 27 from the field is not a good shooting% for Luka.

While um schedule does look comparatively easier, that's not much consolation given how tough and tightly bunched the league is top to bottom. Assuming the champ gets all 20 games in a 15-5 record could very well take it. And a 14-6 title winner would not be surprising.

I wish the B1G would go back to a true round robin. Play everyone twice. Cut down on preseason games and start the conference games earlier. It’s the only way to get a true and fare conference champ.

no offense, but I like watching big time non conference games. You can't have much of that if you have a 26 game conference schedule. College hoops has a conference tourney and a national championship, I don't particularly lose a lot of sleep because every team didn't get a home and home with everybody else.

I’m high on Rutgers and /or Michigan to win the conference.

Round robin would be a true test but it is what it is.

That's what happens when you allow too many teams into a Conference. Its not really a real Conference anymore, just a money grab.

can you even remember when the Big Ten last played a complete round robin in basketball? hint: nearly 30 years ago.

I went to my first Iowa University Sporting Event (Football game) in 1974. Hint: That means I remember.

So why are you arguing for playing a 26 game conference schedule? It would seem you would rather argue for removing 4 teams from the conference?

Nobody wants to see a 26 game conference schedule.

MIchigan is playing really well right now. But here's the deal. Anybody in this league can get hot and put a winning streak together, and anybody can get sideways and lose a string of games. This includes Michigan and Iowa.

I'm argueing that Conferences are too damn big, not a 26 game Conference schedule. When your Conference needs to be split into Divisions, your Conference is too damn big IMO. And it's all about money, which is even worse.

When they feel the need to "protect" Rivalry games as part of the schedule and it's largely determined by borders and coin flips in a backroom, your Conference is too damn big.

When you can go years without playing a Conference opponent, your Conference is too damn big.

I am not Jeff Foxworthy, but IMO and viewpoint of what the spirit of a Conference should be, they are too damn big.

At the current rate this is headed, pick your own timeframe, there will be no more Conferences. What is there to stop it? The answer is nothing, because the Suits will get out their calculators and send out a press release and that will be that.
