Badgers invading Gopher's backyard

And Ben Carlson may be a domino effect that hurts our chances at Jamari Sibley? ISU thought they had a good shot at Carlson, which kept the door open for Sibley to Iowa.... I think now ISU is going to go hard for Sibley and with their Milwaukee connection going to be tough to pull him to Iowa City.

ISU never had much chance with Carlson. He was a ISU legacy but he was not ever that interested. I do not expect ISU to pursue Sibley much unless ISU misses on several other recruits first but I think he will be committed somewhere by then.

Not true. Carlson was always a longshot. No clue what's going on with Sibley but the Carlson commitment won't change things.

Right now ISU only has 1 remaining scholarship. I would expect that they sign 2 more, but they have to be all in on Foster now I would assume. They are obviously getting a visit from Sibley but I doubt they would accept a commit until after Foster decides.

All that said I like Sibley as a prospect and I'd love to get him.

If they are going to sign 2 more why wouldnt they take Sibley if he wanted to commit and save the last one for Foster if he wants it?

To my knowledge, ISU does not have, nor do I expect them to get, a visit set up from Sibley. I am pretty sure he has been to Ames, but not on an official visit. Xavier Foster, Grant-Foster and Kerwin Walton have been to Ames and appear to be the top targets. The PF Moore from Arkansas and the SF from Florida may be the next wave along with prospects like Sibley should they miss on the top targets.

Because they have other prospects that have visited that they seem to have higher on their wish lists. Does not mean Sibley is not a great player or that he may not visit Ames at some point, but I would not expect ISU to be Iowa's competition for him for now.

Walton is AZ bound unless the UNC offer gets him to go east.

Who is Grant-Foster?

I live up in the Twin Cities ("The Cities" as it's known up here) with two children who recently went through the college selection process.

For reasons I'm not quite sure of, it seems like WI has a stature higher in the Cities in many respects that U of MN. Many, many students from the Cities go to WI as their first choice.

As suspected, it comes as no surprise that IA trails in that regard.

Historical academic reputation decidedly favors the Badgers over the Gophers and Hawkeyes, at least from an undergraduate perspective. With reciprocity, and Madison’s reputation, it’s not surprising that a lot of Twin Cities kids really like Wisconsin, as a first or top choice.

If I had a choice between Wisconsin or Minnesota I would pick Wisconsin they have better facilities and a better campus.

I cannot argue that Madison is not a great town, with the two big lakes and the bar scene, but the facilities are not really better than Minnesota, at least since Minnesota built the 150M Athletic Village.

The Kohl Center is a boring 1980's style arena, that was stale the day it opened. (Maryland, Nebraska, and even older MSU have much better "new" arenas). In reality there is not that much energy, and with so so sight lines, so I am not sure I'd take it over the decaying Williams Arena, which still creates high energy even when 2/3 full, and it will be massively upgraded in the not so distant future as that is only big project the U of M AD still has left.

Not boring when you win 95% of your games played there. The Kohl center is a multi-use facility it holds almost 18000. Wisconsin usually leads the B1G in attendance every year. Great Hockey venue. The campus is actual campus, not an athletic village. It is not an urban setting. It's really just a great place. Sandwiched between two lakes an electric football gameday. Tough to beat. But! You should try.

Maybe because they're both Liberal Hellholes?

I live "up here" too, just far enough away from The Cities to not get caught up in the insanity.

And lastly, I would never send a kid or grandkid of mine to a crime infested inner city school like the University of Minnesota. No way, no how.
