Most of this is about the football team, new coaches, fiscal shortfall, ect. But Barta is also burying his head in the sand and will not send of copy of the game to the BIG. Why not? Does he not care enough about basketball? Clearly there were issues that negatively affected the Hawks, isn't that part of his job to follow up on that kind of stuff? I don't get it, along with lots of other things right about now.

Barta continues to be his doofus self. I saw him a few rows behind the Iowa bench in Minny. He sat there like the dummy he is while the refs were stealing the game from his team.

I think his job is to have the backs of Iowa players and coaches. Instead, he's part of the problem. He doesn't want to ruffle feathers, so he slithers off into the corner and let's the Hawkeyes dangle in the wind. Hell, I'd have gone to Chicago and demanded a meeting with Delaney and his so-called supervisor of officials, and I'd have had the game tape with me. This is just plain BS.

If I were Fran, I'd have a few choice words with Mr. Barta, the gist of which would be either back me and my team up, or here's my resignation. I'll be taking Connor and Patrick someplace where the AD has more guts than a second grade girl.

I get the frustration of him not doing anything, but realistically....what would the B1G do? Nothing, like they have.

You're right, Baseballer, but I think it would make all of us fans a helluva lot happier if Barta acted like he gave a damn. But fans like us are passionate about Iowa and have seen this movie too many times before. Barta's just passin' through. It's a job to him, and that's clearly as far as it goes. He neither has the passion for the Hawkeyes that we do, nor does he respect the passion we have. All he wants is our money. Otherwise, he wants nothing to do with the unwashed heathens like me.

How about Barta telling the press that even though there's nothing he can do, he's mad as hell about it and appreciates that the fans are too. That he's working with the BIG to improve the officiating, and that things like what happened in Minny are not acceptable, and that he's proud of the way Fran and his staff and players handled themselves in light of the obvious officiating error that probably cost Iowa the game.

Is that too much to expect?

You Remember when Pollard the AD at ISU went after officials during the CPR era? It didn't work out too well for them. I understand that fans are upset and I am sure Barta was upset, but the Big 10 does not like public negative comments towards/about officials. So really there is nothing they can do.

I mean in the end the game is over and what can they do. I know for a fact that the U of Iowa and U of Minny get to "rate" those officials and bring any plays they think were wrongly called to attention of the supervisor. But what can they do in this situation, suspend them? What good does that do, the game is still an Loss. They will not change the outcome.

All Iowa can do is at the end of the season send in their overall ratings of officials and ask that certain officials not work Iowa "Home" games anymore. I don't think Iowa can control who they see on the road, but I am guessing those 3 guys will not be coming back to Iowa City after this year. Has Teddy Valentine worked a Big 10 game at Iowa recently? I can't remember.

I get it that everyone wants an AD that shows an insane passion for Iowa athletics. However, AD is actually a position that is supposed to act with class and be a well respected individual. Don't let ADs like Pollard fool you into thinking what some of those blowhards do is acceptable.

This is the dumbest post I've ever read.

The LAST thing I would want to see on national TV is my AD losing his shit on the officials during a game. There is a right way and a wrong way to go about these things. That would fall into the latter category.

Taking the high road on something like this is WAY more effective than demanding meetings, demanding letters of apology, blah blah blah.

It was a bad call. Get over it.

It's possible to portray your disappointment without going all Jamie Pollard. He could send video to the Big Ten offices and portray his disappointment with said call and official. Then be done with it.

Barta got asked by Williams security to settle down and stay in his seat during the game. You are a lying liar.

Unless it would raise money for the athletic department, Gary won't do it.
It could and should be done in a professional way so as to point out what happened. Doesn't have to be a turd about it, but it should be done.

I certainly wouldn't support the AD throwing a public hissy fit about a badly officiated game.
We've got enough public officials and personalities behaving boorishly currently.
I'm all for showing some restraint and demonstrating dignity.
I would much rather have him register his grievances with the B1G in private, which he has most likely done.

As much time as you've been around these boards and that was the dumbest thing you've EVER read? Seriously?

Agree or disagree all you want to, but the dumbest thing you've ever read is a bit of a stretch don't you think?
Sure

Barta is only interested in bilking the fans out of every dollar he can. That's it and that's all. He's half reptile and half retard. He's a Reptard.

Making public statements about the officials accomplishes nothing but making you look like a whiney little Pollard (bitch) and strains the relationship between your athletic dept and the league.

Calling the B1G offices and then hanging up right away 50 times per day is much more effective.
