Because we haven't complained about Dakich for a while....

Yesterday as I watched the Maryland-Purdue game, Dakich took the time to list his top B1G teams according to his DD Index. He ranked Indiana at 1, Iowa at 2, and Maryland at 3 followed by MSU & Purdue. When questioned as to why he ranked Indiana ahead of Iowa when Iowa had 4 wins against his top 5 compared to Indiana having 0, he said he goes by his eyes rather than wins.

After seeing the Indiana loss to Penn State, we should send Woody to help his eyes out.

I saw that and chuckled. The play-by-play guy even kind of called him out on it. I wonder what Dakich's eyes are telling him now!

Based on the IU trip to AA his point made sense at the time. It does not know.

If Dakich is making his index off one game, then wow. Indiana has yet to play any of the top four teams in the BIG (Iowa, MD, MSU, Purdue). I suspect they will lose to most, if not all of those teams. As good as Yogi is, he needs some help, and that team is young and turns the ball over way way too much.

Dunce Dakich is a lousy commentator and a homer for Indiana.
He believes that Bobby Knight is a Saint and the best
basketball coach who ever lived. His son plays for Michigan
in a reserve role.

Dakich is a dunce, like almost every other of his broadcasting kind. Most are gutless wannabees and never-wases. I'll never forgive the jerk for his tirade against Woody last year. That was sports bullying and character assassination at its worst.

The "eye" test. Hell, man, Dakich not only needs new eyes, he needs a new brain.

Iowa toys with PSU and a few nights later PSU mugs mighty Indiana...and Yogi was just awful.
Another wonderful performance by the self-proclaimed world-wide leader and its small-minded minions.

He had Iowa number one since the MSU sweep, and he just announced us losing to Maryland. Wow, what a surprise that he might have put a team ahead of us. He talked us up every game he did for a month, let's tone down the butt hurt just a tad.

Agreed, but good luck with this dude.

I don't watch much golf. But I caught part of a tournament "Waste Management" and there was this one hole where people get to scream and fart and who cares. I kept looking for Happy Gilmore!

If Golf can do that than by goodness a College Basketball fan can afford a little butt hurt at Dakich. That is exactly what he is for! You bunch of emotion conquering Vulcans that find fault in a little fun!

While I certainly would prefer a real announcer. The kind that are getting hard to find as being a boisterous moron seems all the rage these days. I am at least going to exercise my right to play along with the clown act. So that said.

Dakich deserves credit for being like the biggest crotch punch on "America's Funniest Home Videos". And if that is all he aspires to be, he's there.

While I don't really give a rats what dakich says, as for the most part I actually like the guy, basing your argument off of one game to an un ranked team, while comparing Iowa's resume, would be rather silly, don't you think?

I'm not upset about the ranking but who was ranked above us. If he had gone with Maryland, I'd understand that perfectly but putting a team that has not beat a top 5 B1G team and lost a game to someone that isn't in the top 5, defending his ranking makes you look as uneducated as Dakich.

Up until the PSU game I thought the Hoosiers had looked really, Really good, So I can't fault him for giving his Alma Mater props, Or perhaps the kiss of death.:)

Aside for the Woody issue he doesn't move my meter one way or the other. But the Woody thing was BAD!!!!

I think it was three years ago when Dakich had Iowa #1 in his Big 10 power rankings based on the way we were playing at the time, even though we were in the middle in the Big 10 standings.

Dakich's rankings are all about what you've done the past 2 or 3 games, and before IU lost to Penn State, they had a very impressive stretch. Not a surprise he had them #1.

I think the only thing that bothered me when he said that was when he said "I see things that others don't see". Just reeks of arrogance. Other than that I think he generally fair but probably talks too much.

He has intelligence but will say some things just to get a reaction. I don't respect that. He really didn't defend his pick, just said he saw things. He said it with a voice that was just meant to send people to twitter. I learned a few years ago that it isn't worth getting worked up over. He can make good points but I don't respect when someone makes statements just to spark a reaction.

No, it makes perfect sense as that's how he explained his ranking. Again, I'm guessing that has changed now.

Ok, sure. And I am saying that is a stupid argument based on one game against an unranked team. Was it that hard to understand?

Sounds like my wife after I clean the house. NOW I HATE HIM TOO!!!!

I hear you. One Saturday everyone was gone so I did the deep clean, moving furniture, sweeping, dusting and moping floors, etc., etc. Took me four hours to get done. My wife gets home and asks me why I didn't do (whatever) and was dead serious. WTF!

How many troll snipes did he get on Twitter after his hoozures lost to PSU last night?

I hope hundreds...if not thousands.

Serves him right for not truly looking at the last 10 games instead of the last 3.

He's an Indiana fan/homer so you really can't take what he says about them seriously.
Aren't we homers here? I don't think it was outrageous to rank Indiana higher given how they have been blowing out teams. Now, if he would have made that statement post PSU, then I'm thinking, "come on, dude".

Herbstreit is an excellent color man but he's certainly a OSU homer. Vitale was always a homer for the ACC, as was Packer. I don't care as long as their comments during the game are good. Dakich is a very good color man who adds a lot to the broadcast. Just because a few Iowa fans are b***hurt because he's made some negative comments about Iowa in the past, doesn't change the fact he's very good at his job.

Dakich is not good at his job. IMHO of course. His observations are totally fundamental and imprecise. His comments condescending in spite of that.

On the other hand, I could listen to Clark Kellog all day. Crispin does an above avg job, and so does Bardo. If Dakich would stick to stories of his bball playing days, he would be much more effective.

I like Clark but he sounds like he has marbles in his mouth, I can't understand have he's saying because he's mumbling. His observations are good and informative. I do agree with you that his comments can sometimes go off into condescension but overall he does a much better job than most, who provide you with the same vanilla, boring, comments that give you no new insight to the game.

Hey, different strokes for different folks I guess. I'd take Dakich over most of these guys, but I can see how he would be grating to some people. I guess I don't understand the hate some have for him. Some Iowa fans are so super sensitive about anything not glowing about the Hawks. Look at this thread for examples. He didn't rank Iowa first. So what? He ranked them 2nd. If anyone should be pissed it should be Maryland who's beaten us head to head.

Phantom...I don't have a real big hang up with Dakich for his comments during a game but my goodness....his ranking IU higher than many other BIG teams especially IOWA is thick-witted homer stupid. A smart man would look at IU's BIG schedule and even before the PSU game and risk adjust some what who, where and by how much they won or lost the game compared to those league leading teams he is putting IU ahead of....

Just look below....he says he sees things?.....foolhardy is Dackich to me...this isn't rocket science stuff either.

Dakich is entertaining and although he railed on Woody too hard last year you have to admit that Woody's eye-poking streak was uncomfortable as an Iowa fan. Now it's just funny for me to look back on. Poking Wisconsin players twice in one game was pushing the realm of unintentional. Gotta love Woody though! Playing his best ball right now.

Dakich knows basketball and I liked him as an analyst a couple of years ago, before he got so full of himself. Now, I would rather have no sound than listen to him. I like Bardo and Kellog. Crispin is OK. I wish Settles did games, because I think he is usually dead on in his game analysis.

I love Jess. He is articulate, knowledgable and charismatic. He would be great for me to listen to, but he doesn't try to deceive anyone that he's a Hawkeye....a great Hawkeye, too, in my estimation

It's just too bad his voice sounds like Dakich. Kellogg and Bardo are really good. Bardo has really honed his skills.

Crispin is terrible. The rest are good and I love Bardo. He was cracking up watching JU curb stomp Purdue.
