Berge

As much as Iowa fans are kinda bummed about not getting Berge... imagine what the Gopher fans must feel like. It's kind of a given that the best Minnesota kids aren't going to be Gophers. The ultimate punch in the gut will be when Lil Steveson announces he's leaving State.

Losing Berge hurts the prospects of Eggum being permanent. Unless Steveson announces early that he stays in State, there's no way in hell the Minnesota AD can keep him around.

BTW: just read that some Gopher fans are saying Berge avoided Minnesota because of Stroker/Early. LOL!

aah....a little ray of sunshine coming through the clouds
Sorry to be your "cloud", but all that means is he isn't going to Penn State (maybe that's your "sunshine", but I assume it has the Iowa lean element to it).

So your take on it is that Berge will have an easier time starting at PSU and they are probably offering him more money (a lot more when you factor in the difference in OOS tuition)?
Either way, it's Cael and Brady Berge's problem now. I know I'm losing zero sleep over how he fits in.

Most Gopher fans expected to lose Berge to Iowa, so it was kind of like a win for us when he chose PSU ;)

Berge practices at the U for club practices. Several guys in the room beat Berge regularly, Stroker and Early being two of them.

Gable is a free spirit, so who knows where he will land. He is around the program a ton though.

So two guys, Stroker and Early, two guys at least two years older than Berge are beating him in the room? That's impressive!

Jeebus, nothing changes for you fools. You'd still rather see Iowa lose then Minnesota win... as in recruiting battles.

To quote you from the Guillitine... "Who hates Iowa"?

With a fan base like the ones the Gophers have... it's no surprise that your athletic program is a hot, steaming pile of shit.

Deflection and salt: a classic combination. I wasn't even trolling. If you're such a KM fan, you should love the fact that that writer has an unhealthy infatuation with putting the team in the spotlight every season.

If your reading comprehension was higher than 3rd grade level you would realize that I find Pherson's erection (albeit tiny) for KM ridiculous. I am not a KM fan in any sense of the term.

Not trolling? On an Iowa wrestling forum posting how much you despise Iowa. No not a troll at all.

You seem sensitive today Mitchell.

More than two guys. Yes the two guys u mentioned could have potentially prohibited Berge from seeing the lineup til his junior year. Realistically they probably would have stretched out and made it work. Yes he is a senior in high school and will develop. No guarantee he develops beyond the previously mentioned. If he chose MN I would have been excited.

Most MN fans never felt like landing Berge was likely. Many signs pointing against it. IA fans were probably more shocked to lose him. Thought u could handle a joke but apparently PSU pistol whipping the nation in recruiting is no laughing matter. I even had a winky face to cover all bases.

Funny how you talk about fans rather seeing IA lose than their team win. I have only seen you find joy in the misery of MN and ISU.

Get some sleep Mitch. Hope you feel better tomorrow.

a winking face PLUS the smiling face with a pistol to the temple is the proper message board emoji here.

sad part is this program has more studs in the pipe-line. Was hoping it would be a feeder program for the hawks.

Grap" I'll just address the one claim you made because most posters here don't want to read a pissing match between two guys.

While I do enjoy watching Mn and ISU struggle, I have been equally critical of certain elements of the Iowa program. Some here probably would agree. That's where I differ from the your forum. The anti Hawk fans on your forum, and there are many, are sunshine pumpers who rarely seem objective about the Gophs. You know who I'm referring to.

While I was a bit disappointed in BB going East, I haven't read a series of posts stating like you just did that "Berge could very well have not seen the lineup until he's a rs junior", paraphrasing.

I expect Stroker to struggle a bit. I don't see Early EVER beating Kem if they remain at the same weight. They're above average kids, but hardly elite.

MN is the ONLY D-1 school in the State. And yet... the Gophs lose the top kids nearly every year.

You have dual personalities depending on which forum you post on. At least I'm consistent. Now I guess I should post an emoji?

Haha cuz I posted Who hates Iowa, a chant frequently used as a part of the MN vs IA rivalry. Haha cry about it.

I don't see Fredy holding 49 until his junior year. He's getting bigger. Same with Early at 57.

^ that is what I would put my money on also. Still skeptical Berge is a 149, but what donI know.

Have no idea what happen but maybe his brother who left Iowa had something to do with him going away from us.
Does it really matter?
He is not coming so next man move on in and just go beat him what Gable always said when he lost one.

Why do people keep bringing Gable up when talking about Iowa wrestling like he's still here? He's gone and TnT aren't coaching these kids up to beat p4p kids that PSU keeps grabbing. Does Okie State throw out Gallagher every time they struggle? There's no future in the past, get over it.

Unless you're happy getting great lightweights and praying for points for the uppers, something has to change. How do you get owned in recruiting at Iowa by any team?

Tom and Terry are great, but get a real staff behind them. *#%* Iowa ties, I don't care where they wrestled. We have the money, find and pay the top coaches for all weights. Why the hell do we fill up Carver and financially support Iowa if they want to run the program like a high school team? What do have now, like five wrestlers in the HWC? We slipping to a perennial top five...not good enough.

Closer to reality than not... Finding a multi-millionaire to fully endow the HWC would be a good start.

Anybody else find it funny that Jammen is quoting a show about illegal drugs?
Jammie floats from site to site looking for credibility. And depending on which team is doing better, he's either a Husker or a Gopher. If we didn't have the stipulation in our forum rules, we likely wouldn't have to even tolerate him. :p;):cool::rolleyes: That's for you, Grappler!

It costs over $420,000 for Berge and Lee to go to Penn State. Gulibon graduates and it somehow freed up all that money. Who is paying for it? Nobody is buying the "parents are paying for it" "student loans" shtick. It's time to put up or shut up.

jeez jammenz didn't you hear, they are taking no money to go to Penn State even though they were offered a full ride from Minnesota.......wow, what does that say about Minnesota?

Can't help myself, your comments are getting on my nerves...I actually hope Minnesota turns that horrible negative impact on the program around soon!!!

Well, you'll love this then. Current top ten recruits per team:
PSU: ..1,3,3,3,4,5,5,7
Iowa:.. 2,8
Ok St:..4,7,9
Oh St:..1,4,6,8,10

Waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa, wait got to catch my breath... waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

I assume you would like Cael to stop recruiting..or maybe he should call the other coaches about the wrestlers he wants and give them a 15 minute head start....does that work for you?

As lopsided as those numbers are, they simply continue a trend that has been going on now for years, essentially since Cael has arrived at PSU.

Here are the last two years' teams' top 10 recruits per team:

2015-16
PSU: 1,3,3,3,4,5,5,7
Iowa: 8

2014-15
PSU: 1,3,3,3,4,5,7
Iowa: 4

I find these stats stunning and they should set off alarm bells for Iowa or any other team hoping to compete against Penn St.

Iowa has improved in the past two years, and TnT do an incredible job developing lower ranked guys, but imho, the recruiting of top tier guys needs to improve even more.

Not against the NCAA rules. PSU lost a 5 star DT Sharieff Floyd from Pa when a UFlorida booster adopted the kid and gave him a condo and Mercedes. A parent can give a kid pretty much anything. The kicker is the kid already had parents who were against the adoption but since he was 18 the real parents had no say.
You can legally adopt a grown man?
