I was drinking mostly bloody mary's and Sailor Jerry and coke this weekend - had a sweet tooth or something - but I did really enjoy this pilz with a little hop kick from Six-Point:

I drank some Miller Lite and then some Busch Light. I think I prefer the Busch.
At least Busch has some flavor. Granted, it kind of tastes like old, waterlogged corn meal, but it tastes like something. Miller Lite is like making love in a canoe - F-----g near water.

The best beer I had this weekend, was also the only beer that I had this weekend.

After that I had a very nice Napa Valley cab.

Decisions, decisions...50/50 Eclipse Rittenhouse Rye, Consecration, Cantillon Kriek, or BC Vanilla Rye. Tough call. And I left behind Sump, Abraxas, Perennial 17, and a handful of Avery sours.

I had an Elysian Space Dust on Friday- nothing too exciting but I dont see a lot of beers from Seattle out here so was kind of excited to try it. It was a solid IPA.

Had a beer from a realtively new Connecticut brewer (open about 3 yrs) called 2 Roads- their imperial IPA, Road To Ruin, is a great beer. Great hops, balance and finish.

i really like that crisp - nice one for sitting outside on a warm summer day. i saw some people writing about 6 points stuff in a previous thread. i think they do some pretty good beers, but i don't love their marketing strat. the idea that they make kind of 'weird' beers that aren't classified as straight ales or porters, etc... - then just give it a 'brand name', and expect consumers to get into that - just doesn't work for me.

my best beer was a Stpne Imperial Brown - actually went through a couple bombers of that one.

It can be kind of confusing. For example, the Crisp box says it's a pilz, then on the can it says it's a lager. But it tastes a bit like an IPA. I can see where people get confused.

Sixpoint does tinker a lot and I get the sense that they are trying to copy Ommegang a bit as they put out a 'series' of beers. Sixpoint i believe has called their recent ones Mad Scientist Series. It hasnt really worked for me either. They have some excellent beers like Sweet Action ale and Bengali Tiger to go along with Resin and the Crisp

An ice cold PBR is one of my favorite summer beers. I'll be up in Canada this time next week, fishing and enjoying some of these ice cold (which are also awesome):

I drink Kokanee when I am up there which I really enjoy ice cold from a cooler. There are a few IPAs that are from north of the border that are sold in Souix Narrows...underwhelming at best though I forget which brewer.

Best I had was Equatorial from Single Speed, AINEC.

I had a few Helles Yeah by Leinies, and some Schlafly Kolsch on Saturday night. I was pleased with both.

That stuff is straight-up awful.

Best I had was Fremont Summer Ale. A pale ale with loads of citrus flavor. It's the best summer beer I have ever had.

OnIowa, do you like that Perennial 17? Tastes too much like a girl scout cookie.

Are sours hot out there SP? I tried one this weekend and it was completely undrinkable. I don't get the craze, but to each their own.

The 17 was tasty, but it was about right to split the bottle 6 ways. Anything more than about a 4oz pour would get to be tough. Too much sweet and minty.
