Biden announces that he plans to cancel all medical debt in his second term

You think plastic surgery = medical? You are an idiot.
My daughter had plastic surgery on her toe at the age of 2 due to a hair tourniquet, that was 100% medical. Who makes the determination on what qualifies. A boob job should qualify if it is the result of a mastectomy, but not in other circumstances I suppose.

And why is it idiotic to question how this gets administered? Way to shut down actual discourse. It makes you look like a stooge.

Let me help some of you….,People won’t get their medical bills for service wiped out, Biden is talking on the education side of becoming a Dr and wiping out the debt Dr’s have for becoming one.

You know, the people that make hundreds of thousands of dollars, drive around in expensive cars, have expensive and really big houses, some with multiple around the country and world. By all means, eliminate their debt in becoming a Dr so they can spend more money to help the economy. I’d like my money back for paying all of my education bills off. Where do I get a check for that? LoL. We are doomed.

A bill like that gets through Congress ? Imagine what healthcare will cost when private companies realize they can charge as much as they want because the government will pay for it.

Or is this another executive order to spend billions with zero funding.

Crazy the debt records set by Obama Trump and now Biden.

At least it won’t take long for the interest on the debt to be more than all tax revenue. At that point you will have post WWI German hyper inflation.

My wife had a breast reduction that was medically necessary due to the stress they were putting on her back. I can’t wait to see who gets to decide what’s medically necessary or not.

I have never voted for Trump.
I didn't vote for President in 2016, voted for Biden in 2020, and won't be voting for either Trump or Biden this fall if both are still on the ballot. These are well documented on here.

You are wrong yet again. Maybe YOU should shut up.
Sure.

Anybody that is grounded in the real world would be against the federal government absolving private debt. Do you somehow imagine that this cancelled debt will magically disappear without major repercussions?

Also, prepare yourself to "prepay" for any and all medical procedures in the future should there be a magic act that causes medical debt to not be collectible, etc.
Yes, let’s continue to be for this healthcare racket. They are profiting off the sick. No country wants to trade with us.

After the government cancels student loan debt and medical bills, why stop there? Why not have the government pay off people’s mortgages and credit card debt? Then to keep the gravy train rolling government should pay off bank loans on people’s cars.

Shit, we’re already $35 trillion in debt, so why not try to hit triple digit trillions as soon as possible? Yay government!
You do get that most people would see medical debt as different than consumption based debt like car loans and credit card debt?

Because of our world class effed up private insurance/private care system lots of people end up with large medical bills for treatment they had to have.

And you don’t get it. How is this paid for? Just keep dumping trillions of dollars onto the nations debt with zero plan to solve it.

I don’t give a shit if you want to give everybody their own private jet. Just pass a bill that pays for it.

It would not survive the courts.
I don’t even know how they’d begin to implement it.

Say you owe HCA $8,000…the government steps in and “Nah, says don’t worry about it”? Or they’re going to pay it off for you?

I’m for reforming health care but this makes absolutely no sense and just sounds like a ridiculous campaign promise for votes.

That's a GIANT logic leap there Tom...going from not supporting the cancelation of medical debt to supporting the status quo in all things Healthcare.

If you are going to bounce around that wildly there is no point in trying to have a conversation about it.

Medicare for all. There ya go. What private jets have to do with this discussion is beyond me.

With that you don't end up with the absurd bills lots of people who even have insurance get because they had a heart attack or accident and got treated at a non-network hospital or whatever. Our medical expense system in this country is insane.

Should do cars and houses also.
Why?

A reasonable argument can be made for wiping out medical debt. What's the reasonable argument for your giveaways?

I know, I know, you weren't serious. You were trying to make the medical debt proposal look ludicrous by suggesting silly alternatives that YOU think are comparable. But they aren't comparable.

If you actually believe them to be comparable, you ought to be able to fashion an argument that makes them seem reasonable.

This is another empty promise from Joe like so many others he has failed to deliver. He’s basically saying anything in desperation. His advisors need to talk him into withdrawing.

It all ties together. There’s gotta be a first step. All of us get screwed by our healthcare system. If that’s money that people in need can take and put back into the economy I’m ok with it.

Since student loans get brought up, I finished paying mine off at 52. The interest rate was a joke so a lot of that debt being excused is for the borrowers being screwed by government set 7% interest rates. You can correct me if I’m wrong about that last part. I know I paid at least 45k plus the 7% interest.

My argument for a lot of this stuff is we get ripped off repeatedly and one party has proven they are on the side of the big guy repeatedly for decades.

The Senate won’t allow for basically any of it. You’re right.

Just pay for it. The tax increase will be shocking to most idiots. It’s why it hasn’t been done already. Just do the math for us.

Take the total cost of medical care for this country on a year and figure out what percentage of total reported income will need to be collected to make it work. It’s all right there for you with Google.

In 2022, U.S. healthcare spending reached $4.5 trillion, which is about $13,400 per person.

In 2022 U.S. total report income was about $26 trillion. So just propose a bill where people’s Medicare deduction on their paychecks jumps to 17.3% and we are all set.

Personally I am going on Obama care in a couple years. I will be a 401k millionaire making myself look poor so I basically get free medical insurance. Millions and millions of people are doing it and retiring early.

Make healthcare free and it will have to be rationed. Imagine the onslaught of unhealthy unemployed homeless people inundating the system with constant appointments tests and specialists because it’s all free.
