BIG10 FINALS 2025

OSU is the favorite to be 2nd why? I still think in a national tournament Iowa will take 2nd.
How though? If Teemer is 100% healthy we have a finalist and possibly NC. Big question mark but based on this past weekend, that’s a lot of team points we lose unless his health drastically improves in the next 12 days.

I’m not seeing us end up better than third, and I’m leaning towards fourth. Hate to say that but just not seeing second as feasible.

They would fare no better than Illinois or Minnesota and most likely would not have a champ. My point is nobody is singing Illinois or Minnesota’s praises either. Schwab is doing great. If you put Spratley and Jamison back on Minnesota and they are more than competitive
Speaking of Jamison...I watched the Big 12 finals last nite and that "skin problem" with Jamison that caused such an uproar before the tourney started was fvcking nasty.
If I was Happel, I wouldn't have wrestled him without gloves on.

Because OSU isn’t some juggernaut. They went 1-5 in the finals in a weak B12, and are two weeks off of losing to Iowa. There’s a chance Iowa doesn’t finish 2nd, but saying it isn’t feasible is crazy.

Agreed. But losing teemer hurts A LOT.

Went from clear finalist to, hope he AAs.

It’s going to be a dogfight for 2nd. No one is the favorite- because yes, OSU went 1-5 in their conference title matches.

I feel ya.

2 through 6 should be a competitive dogfight and keep things interesting. As always will come down to finalists/champ top end hammers, consis performance/guts, and bonus points.

OSU will have a full team of 10. Iowa maybe 9. So more potential for backside points to OSU. Also, I give OSU an edge for bonus.

Number of champs each, I say none for both.

Number of finalist each, could be none for OSU and up to 3 for Iowa (133, 165, 197).

Much of it will depend on the seeding draw and how the cannibalism plays out amongst the 2 through 6 teams.

Ayala winning 133 could be the difference maker.

Even with an injured Teemer, I'd favor Iowa to take second with OSU close behind. Seeding will be everything. I don't believe any other team can come close to these two teams.

I’m not sold on Nebraska being an NCAA juggernaut. Pinto could easily finish 5-7, Smith 5-6 and Hardy (whom I think everybody loves) is as likely to finish 5th as 1st.

Anyone tired of Teemer is injured ? Why did he keep wrestling if he's so injured. 7th place in no way will help his seeding. Probably would have been better off to default out. Another brilliant move to get third instead of 4th at the Big Ten.

I’m a fan either way. The way he fought on top as long and hard as he could against Miller after the injury time debacle really stood out. Then after Miller went full dick with his little bye bye wave, JT still returned to center to shake his hand. On top of that he put out some scorching offensive flurries even after his initial loss.

At Nationals:
Iowa
133, 149, 165 and 197 all should be top 4.
174, 184 and 285 are all low AA candidates.
157 is a crapshoot 1st to nothing….

Nebraska
141 and 149 are top 4 candidates
125, 157, 174 and 184 are all low AA candidates.

Oklahoma State
174, 184 and 285 are all in the 3rd to 4th place candidates. I don’t think they have a finalist.
125 and 197 and mid to low AA candidates.
141, 157 and 165 are low AA to fringe candidates.

UNI
184 Champ!
141, 149, 157 and 197 could scrap to place.

Teemer is tough, but Kasak and Shapiro are awfully good. Looking forward to that matchup

Gable could’ve easily got bonus.
Him and Kerk are boys. Gable could always destroy him but it’s an unspoken thing. Kerk knows not to get to froggy and start thinking he’s gotta chance or Gable will stomp him. So Kerk toes the line and Gable doesn’t embarrass him.

No, but the two stingers I recall quite clearly are Alex and Kem winning B10s and then losing at NCAAs, of course Alex winning 4 B10's, but losing to a myriad of wrestlers at NCAAs. Hopefully this time we will be on the other end. We've really got to work on our offense. Waiting for the 3rd period and beyond to score a TD has been one of our bigtime weaknesses. It's almost like someone is teaching that shit in the wresting room. You know the old "do what you need to do to have a chance to win it at the end" kind of mentality/teaching that very infrequently pans out for Hawks. We need a new plan!
I don't think it's a plan as much as it is not having enough guys with dynamic offense and the mindset to go after it without fear, and dare I say just have f$n.
