Bo Knows Jackson

Bo Nickal got thrown to his back in the 1st and never recovered against Nate Jackson of Indiana. Jackson stalled his way to a 7-6 victory.

Well, just for accuracy, Nickal initiated the throw but it was well defended by Jackson, who nearly pinned Nickal in the exchange. That put Nickal behind by 4 points (6-2), and he ended up losing by 1 (7-6).

Jackson was very defensive after getting the lead, but he managed to fend off a couple good TD attempts from Nickal late in the match.

Just went back and watched the match

1st period: Bo gets a takedown, and then gets greedy with the ride leading to a reversal for Jackson. Bo gets to his feet and goes for a throw before they can award him an escape and goes to his back for 4 more. Jackson rides him out for the rest of the period. 6-2 Jackson

2nd period: Bo escapes to make it 6-3. Bo takes about 4 ankle pick attempts and they hit Jackson with a stall warning. Jackson takes a couple of straight on shots and scrambles to save a takedown attempt by Bo. 6-3 Jackson

3rd period: Jackson says he wants to start on his feet instead of taking down for some unknown reason, and then tries to change his mind but they won't let him. Jackson takes a shot almost immediatly and Bo counters it for a td. Jackson escapes and later gives up a stall point for going out of bounds. Bo in on the legs late and was very close to a takedown but no dice. 7-6 final

Jackson deserved his two stall calls, but didn't deserve anymore, IMO. Bo was the aggressor, but Jackson engaged him and took several shots throughout the match. I'd pick Bo in a rematch, but Jackson deserved this win

I think Cael has mentioned to the freshmen to work your way into the match. My take on the conversation that if you get a little to aggressive, get out of position etc, things can go badly.I think Bo just had a costly learning experience!

I think he realized he just demonstrated what Cael was saying. Much easier to have this mid season than post season. Bo's a smart kid he will be a little less careless but will keep his aggressive style.

I'm sure it was a learning experience, but it wasn't particularly costly IMO. Could affect seeding at B10s a little, but shouldn't be a big deal.

Just watched the last flurry in the match and Nickal gets in, has a leg and is around the waist when Jackson posts a hand to the mat. Isn't that TD? Nickal was pissed, as would I be as a Hawk fan if that were my guy.

Sounds like Nickal's fun to watch, just based on that description. I've seen some matches of his from his high school days and he got after it then, too. Like to see him still attacking at the college level. The more aggressive wrestlers out there, the better for the sport.

Bo is a lot of fun to watch. I was able to watch a few of his scuffle matches and I watched the 3rd period today. I thought he had a takedown to tie it and imo Jackson stalled the quite a bit of the 3rd period.

Not a PSU fan, but Nickal is worth the price of admission. Watch the Nickal Realbuto match from the scuffle. He is fearless.

Nickal is a scary wrestler. Dangerous from all positions. Great hips. Might get in trouble from time to time but more often than not he's going to come out on top. I know it might be blasphemy to say this, but with Cael and Taylor PSU's room seems like a perfect fit for him.

Great match, indeed. Needless to say, Meyer will have to seriously elevate his game to hang with him. That said, Alex usually wrestles his best against an aggressive or favored opponent, as in his wins over Butler and Brunson last year, both ranked #6 at the time, and his close loss to Crutchmer in the Grapple. Alex will have to get after it to keep pace, for sure, if/when they meet.

I just watched Nickal vs Jackson. My take is that the PBP guys need to realize this is not radio and its ok to not speak at times while the viewers watch the action. The incessant filler chatter was annoying.

Don't like Penn State but Bo is a good wrestler. I'd pick him over Jackson every time. He will be more than a challenge for anyone.
