Jackson Stratton would likely be QB1 if Iowa had to play today vs Maryland (confirmed by Kirk on Wed night, Nov 20)

Here is what Iowa center and now-captain Logan Jones said earlier this week about QB Jackson Stratton, who will start Saturday.

“He stepped in (at UCLA), did a great job, led us to a touchdown drive.

He does his job. The way he carries himself, he wants to improve and get better every single day.

He’s embraced every single thing about being a Hawkeye. It’s cool to see, when guys come into this program to see what they’re going to be about and who they are.

We bring good guys in, and he’s been a great guy. He’s continued to work so hard. He’s doing a great job for us.”

Doc & Lesitikow were being vague about what the issue is with Cade but Chad wrote that Cade might have thrown his last pass at Iowa. We'll see.

@Max_Rebo , what's your take on this?

Also, I am guessing that Lainez might be the back up to Shaggy.
No inside knowledge on my part ... just trying to read the tea leaves. I don't think Doc and 'Kow drop hints like they did if they don't think there's something to it. Lot of smoke out there that Cade has left the team.

Not sure on the motivation. Could be that he's upset about not being QB1. Could be that he's reached the end of his rope when it comes to injuries, and is looking out for his future well-being. Either way, there are classy ways to step away, and unclassy ways to step away. The insinuation from Doc and 'Kow that the coaches might not be happy with Cade hints to me about the path Cade chose to follow. (Especially considering that the remaining QBs are a former fifth-stringer, a guy who just had surgery on his finger, and a guy who was playing DB three weeks ago. ... It would be nice to have a veteran QB available, even if he's well past his prime.)

Between McNamara and Proctor, the big donors to SWARM got a horrible return on their investments
Not to mention Caleb Brown, and all the defensive guys they got to return for an extra year, who have underperformed relative to previous results.

But in fairness, there have been success stories as well, from Jacob Gill and Nick Jackson to Lucy Olsen and Sedou Traore.

I think those investing big money in player NIL will have to get used to mixed returns on their investment.

Wow; left the team? I had not seen that.

There are so many rumors out there right now :(

I would love to know what Iowa boosters have paid out in total this season to Cade, Nick, Kaleb Brown, etc.

All of a sudden now we don't want competition at the QB spot hahahahaha
Yes we do. But we would like it to be with vying two talented QBs against each other. Instead we're searching for the tallest midget with this bunch that Ferentz has assembled. As far as I'm concerned, with all the injuries and the general tepid performances, I would have eliminated McNamara, but it seems as though he is Kirk's chosen one, and we know his history with choosing QBs.

Does it really make any difference who is the QB
If it was Cade EVERYONE would be bitching about how slow, he is or how he only throws the short out passes that go nowhere.
Sullivan is done for the season.
I believe Tim Lester/Kirk Ferenz has decided Stratton gives the team the best option to win the rest of the way.
It's all about the wins you know. JMO

Cade is in the mix due to injuries in the QB room. Tallest midget is an ignorant analogy. The QB1. Is always Kirk's chosen one... by definition. Maybe you haven't paid attention but Kirk always supports his starters.

It's how he rolls.

I didn't see a single post bitching about Cade not playing because of concern about replacing his productivity. More just confusion about the whole situation.

I would bet you're wrong if McNamara can even crawl back onto the field. If he is cleared, he will start.
