Jackson Stratton would likely be QB1 if Iowa had to play today vs Maryland (confirmed by Kirk on Wed night, Nov 20)

Yup heard that, he is officially a WR though
Iowa has had QBs switch to other positions and done well. Other schools have too.
Guess most are too young to remember when an NFL team ran out of QBs and used a HB and won.

Resar moved to WR (and he might still be injured)
With this topic in mind...relevant question. Which guys on the roster are former quarterbacks? There are usually a few. Were Coop still here he'd be in line no doubt.
True; Resar is injured but they moved him to WR because coaches thougth that was the best path for him to see the field.
It will be interesting to see if Resar sticks around in Iowa City as a WR or if he enters the transfer portal looking to play QB somewhere else
Sadly, I’d take Deacon sneaks and hand offs for the entirety of the next two games. Not like those games will be electric anyway.

To be somewhat fair to him, he only had fall camp and practiced as the backup. Probably a lot to absorb in a short period.
Might sound crazy but I agree. Decon's size led to quite a few sneaks on his part. We need to run the ball against these next two opponents.
i am impressed with Lester in that he had Sully and Shaggy (when Sully went down) prepared to play. Lester was not afraid to have Sully pass downfield or have Shaggy throw at all.
He wasn’t sharp for sure but pitiful tackling lost that game as far as I’m concerned. Way too may YAC’s.
interesting, it would be pretty cool to improve both offense and defense with that one move.

So why are you so sure that he wasn't told to do that? If you recall in an interview he was asked about that prior to the UCLA game. He said he would take what was there on 1st and 2nd down and do what he had to on 3rd and 4th. Sounds like he was coached, he just reverted to his instincts during the game.
I think thats in the huddle and pre huddle. You can see the QB sometimes covering the ear holes in the helmet before they go into the huddle. I believe thats when Lester is communicating. I doubt he's talking to them at the LOS. To much going on, crowd noise etc. to have him in the QB's ear at that point.
There has to be some of that. Not so much talent potential, but decision making. If there were't issue with some of that , then you have to wonder why he was 2nd or even 3rd string (by some accounts ) at NW after their spring practice. You also have to remember he didn't actually get to start practicing with the Hawks until fall camp and then coming into a totally new system.
I am very impressed with Lester in taking the QBs he has and having them ready.
Stratton has gotten all of the QB1 reps until recently (the assumption is Cade got some when he was cleared). It's gonna be interesting to see how we do on the road coming off a bye week.
Yeah you would think if Cade was traveling and dressing he would be a captain at this away game.
