Bohannan

so you think solely because he didn’t turn the ball over that he was great? All of his assists are just because he has the ball a majority of the time. He dribbles the ball 2 feet inside the three point line picks up his dribble and turns around and tries to find someone open. When you play 36 minutes a game, have the ball in your hands a majority of the time, have great shooters and are one of the highest scoring teams in basketball, you should be able to have a few assists a game.

But he's averaging 28.7 minutes per game season. Where do you get the 36 minutes per game putz?

Wow! This just made the list of my all-time 🙄 comments! I wonder if someone understands what an assist is!

I get it the scoring was not there tonight . But maybe you would agree he managed the game well and he played good D. He DOESNT need to score big for iowa to win .

He did okay and didn’t cost Iowa the game. He is better defending slow guys from Wisconsin. I thought he forced multiple shots not remotely in rhythm. Airballed one of them. he played ok. that’s the nicest thing I can say.

Wanted him in there at the end when Wisky tried to foul their way back, but other than that he is trying to be the hero. Keegan needs to spend some practice time at the line.

We won, he had 6 points, 0 TO, 5 assists, a huge steal, 3 boards. Trice is a slow white guy?
sorry I explain it a little better for you. Basically I was saying an untrained monkey could have done the same thing.

Ha, clown. Concentrate on your 2-15 season!

Wtf with this ball washing thread.

Jbo was below average, to say he played a great game and deserves the minute distribution over Joe is insane.

2 examples out of many:
1) same pick and roll play where JT failed to make correct pass. JBo had same occurrence and threw up one legged off balanced air ball where Luka was wide open.

2) early in shot clock 3 steps past half court line heaves a ridiculous 3 and misses and Wisconsin converts at other end where he played awful D to cut lead to 5.

greatgame by hawks but 2 instances above were bench worrthy.

If you can’t see beyond scoring you’re not paying attention. Overall was solid in managing the game, and played good D. As said he doesn’t need to be a light up scorer for the Hawks to be successful

His defense was ok but offensively he was more or less a non factor.

As far as I can tell "managing the game" just means not turning it over.

He doesn't make anything happen because he can't create any space.

Iowa had allot of trouble with TOs tonight because they don't have a steady ballhandler to rely on.

Iowa just needed a good ball handler tonight to draw a defender out of the paint for Garza. He doesn't commit travels or get trapped by double teams like Joe T does. And defenders can sink off Joe T because they know he can't shoot 3s. Bohannon doesn't need to score to be useful.
This....people don’t seem to see this . Apparently scoring is the only thing that makes JBO valuable .

Excellent point. And he was not facing elite athletes at guard position. I do believe we also have to get Toussaint going more than 4 minutes, as we will need him come tourney time.

I suppose you thought Conner played great too? Mr. Assist to turnover was 2 assists, 3 giveaways tonight in 23 minutes.

I hate the fact that Fran plays Connor and JBo together so infrequently. They should be on the court together for 35+ minutes per game.

Hope you can sleep tonight knowing how many people think you have a lower basketball IQ than an untrained monkey. Stop! Change your name on this board. Start over. Or go back to the Cyclones’ board.

That's why I fixed the media and deleted it. Snark like yours bespeaks smallness and desperation. Play on Dogberry, the snark is just much ado about nothing.

Playing devils ad....he does create space, just not the way that you are thinking. Look at the difference in how teams guard Iowa with JBo in the lineup vs JoeT. Yes JBo is not going to drive much on you and get by you, but you have to guard him out to 25 ft +. If Joe is in you can sit inside the 3 point line and drop down on the post when needed.

So yes it is frustrating when you have a "slow" PG in some ways but big picture, it opens up the entire floor for Garza and Nunge. Then the biggest issue is getting them a good entry pass.

He did what he had to do tonight. Was great bringing the ball up the court and only forced one 3 really, when we were pretty clearly trying to go two-for-one.

I would be much more concerned if he went into tonight wanting to take every shot and playing hero ball just to spite Wisconsin.

What a great skill, he brought the ball up the court well. Im sure Fran watches a lot of film on recruits and how they brought the ball up. 'wow" he can really bring the ball up the floor. I wonder how well he can sit on the bench and watch another player play defense and make baskets?

Thought last night was one of JBo’s better defense effort. It helps Wisconsin with trice and Davison don’t have those blow past you guys in the backcourt and the back up Anderson the quickest of the 3 was out with an injury.

However I think it’s ridiculous by fran to play him the minutes he does and not sit him at all in the 2nd half. Especially with him not scoring till the last 5 minutes. Even Garza and Weiskamp he pulls out for a few minutes. JoeT played more under control had one turnover however had a dime of a pass on a back door cut to Patrick and nice pull up shot in the lane. I just don’t know how you can justify a 36 to 4 min between the 2 pgs last night. In a perfect world wish fran would play joeT least 10-15 a night and Jbo 25-30 max.

id like you to show me where I put per game. I was talking about last nights game and mentioned 36 minutes.
Reasonable people may disagree about whether Marcus is a Clown troll or an idiot. I think, however, we can agree he is a jerk. He may, in fact, be the biggest jerk on this board. Which means he might be the biggest jerk in the world. (Tip to 'The Big Lebowski.')

Seems to me the only time this JBO banter will end is in about 6-8 weeks when his college career comes to an end. Im not a huge fan but he is getting the job done and has been a pretty good player for 5 years. Reading comments about him is the second most boring topic on this board. The first most boring topic is discussing referees!
