Bohannon trolls NCAA

I'd be more annoyed with all the other student athletes that mooch off them.
Can any college sport really survive without fball/basketball?

Why do people keep talking about out of state tuition. You think these out of state kids are going to come to iowa and pay that if they aren't on schollys? HIGHLY doubt it. Also half the team, or more, is probably Iowa kids....

How many D1 basketball programs actually make money? Not as many as you may think.

I always love the players complaining about getting paid. If he has a full ride, thats = getting paid about 40k a year(out of state tuition, room and board). Free clothing. Food stipend and Im sure a bunch of stuff that we don't even hear about. The school is not making him stay in school!!

You rarely hear this complaint from the players expected to go pro. Its always the players that are starting to come to the realization that their college playing days is nearing an end.

Plus schollys are not taxed.

Can you imagine paying these athletes and then Uncle Sam has to take his cut. Also they have to pay for insurance (most kids would still be on their parents). But still they think this money is going to come w/out any taxes or restrictions. I mean pretty soon performance base would have to be tied to it and the cutting/no pay would happen. It would be a HUGE mess.

A popular kid like Jordan could certainly make thousands doing appearances and stuff if it was allowed. But of course if it were allowed I would have paid Tony Carr $100,000 to show up at my birthday party back in November of 2015 and Jordan wouldn’t be here.

If he could make thousands....then he can pay his own tuition. Makes no difference to me!

And where did Jordan gain that popularity? That would be from media rights deals that the conference, which is made up of the member Universities, negotiated with their clout and brands which were built over the last 100 years. Any image that Jordan has, was built by Iowa and the B10. After he leaves Iowa and no longer falls under their umbrella, he can make as much $$$ as he is capable of generating by his own hand.

Well, those universities built their “clout” on the backs of unpaid athletes for the past 100 years. Do you feel the same way about coaches? Should they not be paid?

He’s really got the NCAA on the ropes now.

This is frankly idiotic. What good could possibly result from this? It’s not like they are going to change the rules so they can get their rug back. He’s basically letting everyone know he stole something.

Coaches are employees of the Universities and they receive $$$ for their employment. Those "unpaid athletes" receive 5 years of education from the University they have the privilege of playing for. I really never understood why some of these athletes would turn down an education at a school such as Stanford to attend a school such as Kentucky or Louisville. The value of the Stanford education is far greater than either of those schools and frankly many others.

Actually JBo and Baer never said they took it. Just that Jordon would give it back if the NCAA agreed to terms. So no admission of any crime (unless possession of stolen goods counts- oh wait, they may NOT actually have it in their possession)

Student athletes should not be paid until the market demands it. Right now there are hundreds of thousands of prospective recruits willing to play for only a scholarship.

While we're at it, we should probably start restricting kids on music scholarships from making money from performances while they're in school. They should be happy with the free tuition and nothing more. Same with acting majors, computer science majors writing programs, really anyone who is on a scholarship.

Tweeting about taking a throw rug is funny. Bringing up anything about the NCAA paying athletes was the stupid part of his tweet.

Life is so very tough for you, Jordan. If you want to make money playing ball, go play in Europe. What a dumb thing to do.

bohannon would be making soooooooo much money off of his likeness.

he and zion would be #1 and #2 in revenue.

Yep. Mattel just announced Jordan Bohannon action figures. There’s also an exciting rumor of a Tonka release of some kind. The Bohannon Bronco?!

People that use the term beta and think in those terms prove themselves inferior stock. Go slobber on a Roush stick you beta.
It’s comedy. Within the past week I’ve been called a beta and a taint sniffer here, as if there’s any correlation between what I post on Iowa’s Rivals page and my ability to be charismatic or get p*ssy in real life.

Naturally, the people who treat this board like a D measuring contest and act like jerks are generally the biggest real life betas, because they have to go to HawkeyeReport to anonymously be condescending assholes instead of doing it to their peers in person.

I’ll keep shooting them likes though because their anonymous internet reputation is more important to them than mine is to me (zero)

Preach! You and chap should know I’m poking fun at the dipshits who are into this alpha/beta thing.

its not just a food stipend; ALL of the food they want is theirs to eat and/or grab to go. There is no limit. Well, there might be a limit if the player gets fat! LOL

Think of the value of the personal training, too. If you hired Chris Doyle as your personal trainer, he would charge NO LESS than $100/hour.

Think of the value of free tutoring.

The value of a football or basketball scholarship is way up there, especially if you come from out of state.

huh?
There are tons of people that will play football for less than millions a year, but nfl players are still making millions a year ;)

There are plenty of "actors" that will work for cheap, yet others still make millions.

So?

He basically took what amounts to a drink coaster from a bar.

Arrest that son of a b**** and throw him in jail!!!

When the NCAA comes for their mat, then we'll talk.......

Let me get this straight. All you criticize other posters for criticizing players because they are just kids. But these same kids want to use their fame to make money off if it? Gimme a break.

Just out of curiosity, because I see both sides, how much is Iowa, B1G, and the NCAA making off of players?

Every college player knows (or should know) what they are signing up for before playing college ball.

All parties named make money.

A lot of money.

Boatloads of money.

Tons of money.

So. Much. Money.

But, beat up on Jordan and the like if you want. He and his kind are the least of the problem.

Carry on.
