Bourbon St. Attack

Yeah, someone referenced the recent methodist schism. As a former methodist, I actually streamed their debates at their general conference leading up to it. Let me just say, if there were a christian sect that wouldn't have the stones to go on a killing spree over some doctrinal matters, it would be the methodists. The presbyterians might, what with the Calvinist predestination and all. But not the methodists.
😂 I had a good friend who was a Methodist minister and he jokingly told me that the Methodist faithful were often too occupied with helping the members of their Congregations who were “Baptists in recovery”.
I’m a Catholic so I just listened to that one and laughed later in private. 😎

Simpatico.

It's funny, when you take a baptist to the relatively "high church" experience of traditional methodism, they are sort of incapable of resisting its draw.

A lot of us know a lot of nothing.

Example 1) - Murdered CEO's wife was college friend of a relative of mine. She said they were about to get divorced. You don't read about that in the papers.

Example 2) Army Veteran has a history, which will be analyzed and re-analyzed. I guarantee there were some warning signs before New Orleans massacre. His computer/devices will likely paint the picture

Does anyone else find it interesting that this country always wants to physically put things in place (road blocks, police/security, etc) to try and prevent things like this from happening. Yet this country majorly lacks in providing resources mentally. Wouldn’t it be amazing if a person born and living in America knew better than to go around a barricade and run over and shoot as many people as possible?
How does someone get to this point? Some mention religion, if someone’s religion is telling them to kill. Maybe this country should do something to get rid of that religion and people practicing that religion.
If someone is being influenced to kill by any person, cooperation, advertisement, music, game, social media, anything. Maybe it’s time to get rid of that as well. Why should this country need to supply any sort of protection. People should know right versus wrong. If they don’t, punished the person (parent) that should be teaching them right vs wrong. It’s pretty f’d up that anyone ever wants to harm anyone else.
100%. And it's bc it sounds easier and that's what the country has become. The root cause is always harder to figure out and fix so we don't even try.

Wait a minute.....;)

In all seriousness, we are ultimately a country with a core value of libertarianism (which is of course also in competition with other core values). And so, in our infrastructure and rule sets, we have a certain presumption that people can, or might, engage in conduct that can be 'bad' or 'harmful' to themselves or others from time to time.

In the really really big picture, I suspect you and I would agree that the scales are probably unduly weighted toward it these days, and that the pendulum needs to swing back a bit to collective values.

Lol. I don't actually even know what that is. Which may even be funnier for all i know.
A certain senior citizen poster bought some discount hokas online on a deal clearly too good to be true. Despite dozens of posters telling him he got scammed, his response continued to be, "we'll see". The denialism was quite entertaining.

1. I thought it was pretty well known they lived in separate homes, thus making it obvious they were separated

Agree - mostly -
Ex 1 - I read about it because it was reported by several outlets. Not terribly relevant but okay.
His assassin may not even have known but I doubt it was part of his decision to commit murder.

Ex 2 - the dead man had at least two disciplinary actions for DUI while active military but also had commendations for good behavior over the time of his service. He’s been married three times, was taken to court for back child support by his first wife, had a restraining order taken out by the third wife, and had various jobs with accounting and consulting firms - one of which was DeLoitte, who paid him about $125,000 a year. Not rich but could get by in Texas.

He slid into darkness and began exhibiting concerning behaviors that seem to reflect a pattern of mental health issues that we have seen before. And yes, lots of info will come out. As the FBI just reiterated in the latest news conference it’s only been 24 hours.

Again: nowhere by Jesus.

He talked a ton about "giving to the poor" and "loving one another".

Made zero mentions of "gays".

That's all I really need to know to make my decisions on whether gay people are evil or not. Jesus would have accepted them, just like the lepers and Samaritans, etc.
So the only part of the Bible you acknowledge are the four gospels?

How about Matthew 5:17-18?

Want to point out this fake news post right here. Dude was active service plain white cracker from Colorado Springs.

Livelsberger spent 18 of his 19-year Army career with the Special Forces, according to his Linkedin profile. He is believed to have joined the Green Berets as a communicaton’s specialist in January 2006, before becoming an operations manager and team sergeant in February 2023.

I can't believe a Green Beret would make such a shitty homemade bomb.

Old Testament is where homosexuality is mentioned. New doesn’t. So are you saying homosexuality isn’t a sin?
I wouldn't know. I'm in the 4th quarter of life and have never met a homosexual IRL, only read about them on HORT or in movies and TV. They're kind of like Bigfoot or the chupacabra as far as I'm concerned...
Everything is speculation at this point. And, lets say I drive a truck with a Hawkeye flag into a crowd of cyclone fans, does that implicate all Hawkeye fans?

Jebus.....is it this hard for you guys
Did the Hawks fans implicate all Cyclones when they attacked our band in Ames?
The Cy-Hawk rivalry game between Iowa and Iowa State could be in jeopardy after University of Iowa president Bruce Harreld questioned whether it should be played in the future in an interview with the school newspaper, the Daily Iowan.

His comments came in the wake of members of the Hawkeye marching band saying they were verbally, physically and sexually harassed at the Sept. 14 game in Ames, Iowa.

"I'm not convinced at all that we should play this game again -- here or there or anywhere -- unless we can protect our fans, our band, and of course our athletes," Harreld told the paper on Monday, adding that he expected to be able "to work through this."

"If for some reason one party or the other doesn't come to the table," he told the paper, "then no, why would we?"

Agreed. But not the alluh akbar type the poster suggested. Has to be suicide in a blaze of glory.

Biden was wrong and was obviously pandering.

Do you believe Haitians eating dogs and cats are an existential threat?
Maybe don’t have the FBI wasting millions of dollars and man hours raiding Melania Trump‘s panty drawer for political gain and focus on actual threats and crime. This all changes on J20.

Alright, more snow than I expected. Can't stop coughing. Has anyone in the room decided to be an adult? Raise your hands.
