I'm sure Brock is going to be a fine wrestler. Most high ranked recruits are. Brewer got real aggressive and paid the price when Brock did too, with a nice inside trip counter. He didn't panic. I like that. But he'll be the one worrying about staying off his back against Clark.....................
Pretty ballsy move by Smith. Pull the shirt to wrestle the defending champ. He obviously got the very best outcome, but there was a chance that Brewer would rag doll him too. Gotta give Brock credit, two takedowns in 30 seconds and made a huge splash in his first match.
I didn't think they factored last year's results in so just because Garrett beat the reigning NCAA champ doesn't make him front runner for #1 does it? If Clark wins the Midlands and Big Ten's, he has a great case for the #1 seed. Personally I think 133 is stronger at the Midlands than the SS, and Big Tens are tougher than EIWA's.

There were so many "WTF" seeds last season that I wouldn't even try to predict seeds in December.
True, all I was saying is that Clark's remaining schedule is plenty strong enough to warrant a #1 seed, and listed out who each will face for reasoning.
No kidding!! That match was very similar to Gilman/Moisey. Brock came out like a ball of fire and tried to make something happen quickly and did. Good for him. If they wrestle 10 times I'm still betting on Brewer every time. I'll be surprised if Brewer doesn't thump him next time they wrestle (if they wrestle). One match does not make a resume. Helluva way to start a career but slow way down. There's also no way he goes from 0-0 and unranked to being ranked 2. Again, one match doesn't make a resume.
We have to admit one thing. Brewer has some exciting matches. He was not afraid to go upstairs with Brock or Garrett. He is 1 for three in those positions, but he really goes after it. He seems to be fearless. The way people would like to see a returning champ wrestle.
I see Kaid dropping into the 9 to 11 spot this week. What a way to start your college career. Has dreamed as a kid going to OSU and being the man at this weight. As of now he is living his dream!
Has he beat anyone outside of Brewer this season? The only D1 results for him I could find are vs OK and OK State wrestlers.
It was certainly a pin. After they both hit the mat, during the scramble, had Brewer gotten a better push off, he would have been the one getting the pin. As it happened, one guy had a lot of adrenaline wrestling his first big match and one guy felt the pressure. Could have gone either way for a few seconds there, but hats off to the freshman for taking the reigning champ off his game. Too small a sample size to say much about where he will be at the end of the year, but SS will help fill in the blanks.....Wrestling, what a great #*%&'ing sport! LV, SS, Midlands, going to be some good ish!

I wouldn't consider this win the only part of Brock's resume - the kid was an absolute MONSTER in high school and has already built a rather strong resume before stepping onto a college mat. Don't discount the kid - he is nasty quick and solid in all positions. The win was no fluke.
Brewer looked like he didn't take the kid seriously from the get go or the cut is hurting him. Hats off to Kaid, he came out and took it to him, everyone else is taking note of who he is now. Let's see how Brewer adjusts to the cut come February before we count him out.

Agree. It was basically 50/50 after they both hit the mat. Kudos for Brock for getting the upper hand. Brewer should start recalculating the risk-reward ratio. He's been burned on upper body throws in each of his last two matches.
I haven't seen Mike this pumped since... let's say since OSU won the National title.

When it's beer, Dos Exuis guy, but I do love some moonshine when I can get it, after a few hours of drinking that you can add all the umbrella you want in my drink as long as the price doesn't go up! Trunk full of moonshine at Nationals if I drive to it, Looks like no moonshine in NY. Ive attended Ok St and PSU parties at Nationals. Never been to an Iowa party but would go if invited ...cough cough . Let me tell those that dont know, Ok St people know how to party and even their mature women still like to have a good time. Its a leave your cell phones in your pocket kind of crowd.

If you invite him don't bring your grandma because Dunkej will be hitting on them, he's sure likes those mature women and he's a young guy. Dunkej is one of nicest guy you will find from the PSU board, I've meet him and have talked to him a few times trying to find out who Amalone is and where I can find him.
