Yeah Soldier Salute, pretty early match. He's talking about when they wrestled this season . Buchanan vs Merrill in Dec
Yeah…. It’s an if the shoe fits kind of thing. Is it okay for a parent to come here and call a poster “a piece of shit?”
I don't agree with her approach, especially considering everyone knows who she is.Is it okay for a parent to come here and call a poster “a piece of shit?”
It’s as if people don’t think she would say that to their face…. Trust me, she would. She’s isn’t hiding behind a screen name bashing young men who work their asses off for our entertainment. Those who do, are indeed pieces of shit. Full stop.I don't agree with her approach, especially considering everyone knows who she is.
But I also don't think it's a good look for some Iowa fans to be shitting all over one of our own athletes, just as I think it's unwise for the athletes and their parents to even be on here in the first place. Just stay away and keep the main thing the main thing.
Though admittedly, I do appreciate her insider info, otherwise we'd never hear it.
Bingo. Even richer is that the pieces of shit in question would never say what they anonymously post on here to any of the wrestlers or parents faces. It’s as if people don’t think she would say that to their face…. There is a difference between a mom and a dad.I don't think I'd be coming to a message board if I had a kid on a D1 team, but to each their own. Gabe's dad seems to be able to not take it as personal........it's just wrestling
Pretty sure he was implying "if" that were to be a finals match - but I'm not really one to defend the 98lber all that much. It's pure avoidance of wrestling, hate it.
Parker Keckeisen might disagree with you on this one. I'm excited about Angelo but there's a pretty big gap between Star, Keck and Plott. He'd have to beat one of the 2 to get to the finals and while I think he'd certainly have a shot, he'd be a big underdog against both.
I'm personally looking forward to Keck beating star in the finals and Angelo making a run at 4 starting next year.
Kid looks like Dolph Lundgren (spelling) in Rocky
That wasn't my point and if you think it is then it clearly went over your head. It’s as if people don’t think she would say that to their face…. Trust me, she would. I wasn’t arguing with you, rather furthering your point. That wasn't my point and if you think it is then it clearly went over your head.
Well he is almost 70 but the facts are Lundgren does have a Blackbelt in karate and was also a kickboxing competitor and regional champion. I'm not sure it would have been an automatic rag dolling as you say.yes he does, but he would rag doll dolph lundgren
Many of us did and do have children who were athletes and I 100% understand why Ferentz was so adamant that his athletes stay off social media during the season. Maybe he still does, maybe he doesn't. But social media is toxic and the vast majority of what you will read is when people are upset. Quite frankly gambling has probably made it worse. The ability to be anonymous tops the cake because trolling can be done with ease. It is one thing for the criticism to be leveled at you - it is all together another thing when it is directed at your child because a defensive mechanism kicks in.You have NO idea what these parents go through and what you say on here does matter. I am a protector a fighter and I guess it’s my way of dealing with SOME peoples bs. As far as“if I had an athlete, I wouldn’t come on here”. You have no idea what you would do. Seriously, uncharted territory for sure.

I find your comments about the inner truths interesting - but if I were you I would stay away because once the scumbags/trolls know they can get under your skin, there will be more.
Which is why fan message boards aren't intended to be a direct conduit to athletes or their parents. Sorry but being critical of a performance on a message board does not make one a p.o.s. and again I'm not talking personal attacks but critical of performance stuff. Sports exist largely bc of and for fans. There's never been an expectation that fans can only be positive even when it comes to non professionals.Bingo. Even richer is that the pieces of shit in question would never say what they anonymously post on here to any of the wrestlers or parents faces.
Have you read some of the shitty things posters write? We didn’t help Ben to get where he is by NOT being open to feedback or criticism. That is not what I am talking about at all. Now if those same fans are messaging athletes and/or parents directly on social media or elsewhere that would be VERY shitty behavior. But that's not what's happening here.
And who made the rules that the “fan” message boards aren’t for parents? I’m a huge fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and love this team! I will tell you all day, we can’t let guys in on our legs cause we are comfortable there, we have to stop giving too much respect to some of these guys, fight more, when he moves his feet and uses his athleticism, he is tough, finish your shots, etc. I will respond accordingly to shitty comments. Or they'll pop on here and justify their posts saying that's what message boards are for. And strawman it by saying they can't be critical at all when clearly nobody Has ever said you can't be critical. But there's a way to be critical without being a POS and insulting athletes and their relatives. You’ll know who the biggest jackasses are when they show now to pretend they would…
Fair enough and agreed, some have been way across the line... though you have jumped a few people for stuff that really wasn't a big deal me included... which is going to happen when your son is the topic of conversation. Do what you like but clapping back at message board posters the night of a competition isn't a great look. And who made the rules that the “fan” message boards aren’t for parents? I think the recommendation is that parents stay off since the con’s of seeing the discussions outweigh the pro’s, and it’s probably been validated in this thread considering you called someone a PoSAnd who made the rules that the “fan” message boards aren’t for parents? We got a stage 3 justifier here. Acting like an emotional 10 yo over a sporting event isn't a good look either.Fair enough and agreed, some have been way across the line... though you have jumped a few people for stuff that really wasn't a big deal me included... which is going to happen when your son is the topic of conversation. It’s a good thing I could care less what some anonymous poster on a message board thinks is a great look. SMH It’s comments like that making you a POS.

Where have I acted like a 10 year old in this thread or in any concerning Kueter? Expressing an opinion that an athlete needs to put on significant weight to be effective in either sport? If you want to call out the specific pos posts have at it but don't loop me in unless it's justified. We got a stage 3 justifier here. I also think he was smart enough to know that he needed a takedown to get the win as it was unlikely he would win if it came to the rideouts. That is what is most impressive thing about that match.
I was just making a general statement in response to your statement about her response not being a good look. And it's never been about constructive criticism it's about overboard statements that are frankly insulting to them.Where have I acted like a 10 year old in this thread or in any concerning Kueter? Sometimes going into the nuances of a match is definitely warranted, other times keeping it simple is sufficient (i.e. if you get teched you got your ass kicked)I was just making a general statement in response to your statement about her response not being a good look. Ok my son used to wrestle one of the Kueter boys when he was little. Mamma is highly vested in her kids(as she be) kinda reminds me of sitting next to Jaybo’s mom when Jay wrestled. If you were fortunate enough to sit by her you would have get one heck is a show(in a good way). Criticism is fair game trust me I had a D1 athlete granted a different sport(softball) believe me everyone is an expert. I get the frustration of the parents. You don’t know how many times over the years I heard what’s going on with your daughter? I would always say what do you mean? Well her batting average is way down and she hasn’t stole very many base. I would so pissed it’s D1 guys it’s not high school. .318 in college is struggling I guess. Ok rambling a bit here but I feel her pain. My only concern with Ben is I really don’t know if doing both football and wrestling will maximize his best. He needs off time for his body physically and mentally. It’s not high school it’s D1 at arguably the best wrestling program in the history of the sport and an extremely high level football program. I guess in conclusion all I am saying put yourself in the shoes of these parents and ask yourself in the shoes of some of these parents and think how you would feel if it’s your kid.Have you read some of the shitty things posters write? We didn’t help Ben to get where he is by NOT being open to feedback or criticism. That is not what I am talking about at all. They’re pieces of shit that post shitty things.
It used to be a lot “easier” to go to a practice sit and watch talk with some of the kids or even coaches not pushing for info just talking and watching. Now it’s locked down pretty tight. So any info from parents is greatly appreciated. I don’t expect all the in’s and outs but it’s nice to hear about some of the stuff that does go on. I still have access to some stuff but nothing like I used to. Maybe some of that is a result of to many people blabbering in the internet from fans to people like Mineo. So thanks those parents who do give us a little insight it is GREATLY APPRECIATED!A lot of us really enjoy having parents on here… a good reminder that the coaches and wrestlers are real people, not just characters on TV
This definitely was a match having me believe again Drake can be on top the podium. Showed some grit and fire.I was pleasantly surprised at How easily Drake tweaked his style just enough to frustrate Sakamoto and then once he scored his confidence started to grow and he took charge of the match and took care of business. I think the after match victory fist pump was the most display of emotion I've seen from Drake in a while and the crowd was so intense. What a great night at Carver for the Hawks.
We should start calling him "Drago." lolKid looks like Dolph Lundgren (spelling) in Rocky
I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. RBY wrestled with an arm behind his back to take away the bicep grip. ADS never managed to develop a shot from space or a left handed pinch. It will be interesting to see how other college coaches will approach Angelo's wrestling style.
We all remember RBY's style change vs ADS.
My comparison is more in line with the knee on the mat and how opposing wrestlers combat or change a strategy vs Ferrari. RBY had a strategy against ADS. It worked.I don’t think that’s a fair comparison. RBY wrestled with an arm behind his back to take away the bicep grip. ADS never managed to develop a shot from space or a left handed pinch.
Angelo appears to be good enough that it might not matter dtr what his opponents do. And I don’t see his game as anything like ADS’. What are you thinking? How would you beat Angelo?
Well yeah, he might actually have to take a shot.My comparison is more in line with the knee on the mat and how opposing wrestlers combat or change a strategy vs Ferrari. RBY had a strategy against ADS. It worked.
I agree AF will probably adjust as well. He'll never face Plott again, but I bet Plott changes his approach if they did.
