IOWA vs pokes dual thread

Seemed like it was still up in the air down to the last second? Took Sakamoto awhile to get to the mat and on tv you could see them waiting for him to come running down the tunnel…possibly once cruz got majored the plan changed? Just seemed to me like he was rushed and not really expecting to go

Or he was taking a pre match nervous shit.

Like a football player out there.... Just stiff arms the entire time
It's pure avoidance of wrestling, hate it.
It'll be too bad if he doesn't get the opportunity to try to prevent the first 5-timer as he pursues his first as a would be 4-timer. That would be epic and guaranteed to be the last finals match. Selfishly, that's what most of the wrestling world want to see.
Parker Keckeisen might disagree with you on this one. I'm excited about Angelo but there's a pretty big gap between Star, Keck and Plott. He'd have to beat one of the 2 to get to the finals and while I think he'd certainly have a shot, he'd be a big underdog against both.
I'm personally looking forward to Keck beating star in the finals and Angelo making a run at 4 starting next year.

I was pleasantly surprised at How easily Drake tweaked his style just enough to frustrate Sakamoto and then once he scored his confidence started to grow and he took charge of the match and took care of business. I think the after match victory fist pump was the most display of emotion I've seen from Drake in a while and the crowd was so intense. What a great night at Carver for the Hawks.
Watch Drake in this video, that’s the most animated I’ve seen him.

Imo, it's style issue. Keck and Ferrari would be much closer just because Ferrari is very dangerous with forward pressure in which is where Keck lives. Star doesn't mind wrestling close matches, is patient, and elite at picking his spots.

My Mom taught me early in life to never say anything about anyone I wouldn't say to their face. Flipping keyboard warriors would end up in a dumpster with a few broken bones lol.
This is such a ridiculous take. It's a flipping wrestling fan message board. If you or mom doesn't think anything negative should ever be posted (again on a wrestling fan message board), you're both being unrealistic. I personally think all the NIL talk related to BK or any wrestler is beyond stupid but again, it's a message board, it's what people do.

Okay but Keck just piss pounded Plott 2 weeks ago. It was barely competitive. Angelo is not on that level right now nor would I expect him to be. Some are getting over their skis thinking he's ready to knock off 2 world class wrestlers.

Why? He scores from there and comes up to both feet in ties. Ironic that the "one knee" stance has become a thing considering how many have used it before and who made it popular.
The irony of Okie St. fans bitching about Angelo considering who their recently retired legend of a coach was is thicker than ticks on a coon hound.

Agree to disagree. Sure, it's fine to critique, question things, etc. I see a lot of comments that borderline get personal, and I'm not a fan of it. Nothing good comes out of it and plenty of parents, recruits, etc. likely check message forums. We have the greatest fan base in wrestling imho, plenty of passionate fans, wrestlers have high expectations (we do too as fans), but I simply don't see the point with a lot of comments.

Just my personal opinion, so that doesn't mean it's right. Thx

Angelo's defense is elite and on par with Star's. That he didn't score as much on Plott than Keck makes no difference because we are talking two different matchups. It's apples and oranges.

And btw, saw several posts on Twitter and Facebook that gave Angelo no chance against Plott. Plott's attack rate was just too high.

thats awesome !! and in all honesty....as hokey as it sounds.. those wrestlers on the Iowa side were LOVING that moment and their celebration was a great team experience and would make for a great recruiting video. it is truly awesome watching all of these kids enjoying a fellow teammate have a tremendous Career moment in front of 15000 fans. That has to be a one of kind experience for these kids and it should definitely be stressed to recruits !

And Gabe Arnold is right in the middle of it as excited as any of them.

That had me fired up. And Angelo listed Gabe as the first name (among others) for why he was prepared for this match in his interview.

This team has a camaraderie reminiscent of the 20-21 teams. I don't feel like we've seen this much juice on the sideline for a few years.

Agree on the personal attacks but I haven't seen much of this aside from a few morons, one of which is a likely psu troll.

Fair points. Selfishly the #1 reason I want him to redshirt is bc the only thing I haven't been able to experience in my years of Hawkeye wrestling fandom is seeing a 4 timer... and I think the best chance of that happening in the near future is Angelo redshirting and going for 4 starting next year.

Agree, Spooner! Of the top 10 heavyweights, 8 of them are wrestling on a COVID year. Just keep that in perspective when you are tearing Ben apart. Not an excuse, just a fact. Ben is up to 245 during the day and then he has wrestling practice. Thanks Spooner, I appreciate your response. Only 2 freshman in the top 20. SMH. Also, IBAHawkin, you are so wrong on Bens “money”. This is a new business and I am telling you, you are wrong. You are a piece of shit for even mentioning that when you have no idea what is truth.

The ONLY reason Ben was a national Butkis award finalist in high is because he is really fast and wrestles 🤣. Ferentz said he can get to 250 comfortably and not lose his speed. He was really good at track, Drake relays qualifier and place winner.

Give him a minute.

I am 100% positive I shouldn’t have to give “hawk fans” his resume, but here I am.

Some of you are really ruthless. God is SO good!
I know corby keeps advising you to stay away (for your own good), but you gotta keep coming back (for ours!)!!

Red is one of the best teammates I've ever seen come through the program. Just an awesome young man.

That's high praise knowing the time you spend around these guys. Even when he was a kid, you could see the maturity and ability to talk to adults on their level. Just a good dude and its been a fun ride watching him and his brothers grow up. Bro Eaghan just placed 6th at State (215).

What's cool is that my wife and I took his brother Emmitt down to Tucson with us years back. Took Em to Sunnyside for a work out...have a picture of him and Jesse (his senior year) after practice. Em's workout partner was Nando Villaescusa, who ended up at Gilbert/Iowa State. Nando was on another level but let Emmitt get in and work on his shots. Also a good kid.

Agreed. I think there is always going to be a "guy" in the way but better that guy not be a 4 timer and a returning champ.

If I could change one thing on the heavyweight front, it would be to bring in more elite practice partners for Ben. I'm not dumping on Bobby, but he's just one guy and he's several years removed from serious competition. After watching last night's dual, I'm convinced that getting to roll on a daily basis with Buchanan has been great for Ferrari's development. I think Ben's development would accelerate with the same type of set-up.
also it looks like Bobby has lost weight

side note, I'm surprised OKST didn't roll our Cody Merril at 197 aft the Angelo upset. He gave SB his toughest match all year and probably having felt him once already offered a better chance to win than Surber

That and the choice at 33. Japan is going to be very good here in the future but Drake was able to match him in neutral plus ride him (what Drake is not known for). Maybe Drake majors or techs Witcraft but I think having a folkstyle guy here to keep to a regular decision would have been best.

Ya we have talked about his brother's season a few times this year. Always impressive to see a young guy succeed at a big boy weight. But yes Red is on a very short list if I had to give a best teammate award. Honestly he would probably be the guy over my years around. Just a fabulous person who is willing to do anything to help his team.

Mitch has the top 10 wrapped up, but the ibahawkfan probably cemented himself on the bubble or at least the last 4 out.
I let you know when the day arrives when I GAF what you think.
I realize I'm on the shit list because I spelled Franklin's first name wrong and don't smooze up to Coach Phil like most here.

Better than an in-match nervous shit, that's for sure.
My 12 week old puppy had an in-match shit during Angelo's match last night. Doing pretty well, she gave me the "it's time for me to take a dump" look. Sure, I could've paused the match, but I just couldn't do it. Wood floors anyway and figured we can just get her back on track today lol.

My dogs are older, but they did run and hide from me during Angelo's match when I was hooting and hollering at the tv.

Is it okay for a parent to come here and call a poster “a piece of shit?”

Buchanan looked like he had just woken up in that match against Merrill.
