Broncos vs Panthers in SB50

Carolina will spank Denver. Young up-comer vs old has-been.

Prediction is Manning will stop signing about "chicken parm" and the mics will pick him up singing, "Damn I wish I could run that good"..

No. Try: damn, I wish I ran that good.

Carolina will be favored. I just want a kick-ass game for the last football game of the year. Last year's Super Bowl was a lot of fun.

The Broncos have 18 players on their roster with Super Bowl experience, 15 with the Broncos from Super Bowl 48. The Panthers have 7 players on their roster with Super Bowl experience, none of which were on the team in 2003.

Normally I like the vet QB in the Super Bowl but I've felt all year this was Cam's season. He's the likely MVP of the league and is just flat out destroying good D's.

Also, the Panther's D is going to make Manning look bad, really bad with his noodle arm.

Both teams have excellent defenses. I think that will keep the game close. Denver gifted the patriots one of two touchdowns allowed yesterday.

Even if the Broncos lose, it won't be out of control. Denver has only blown out one team (Packers) and been blown out by one team (Chiefs). The Rest of the games have been within a score.

The only way I can see it getting out of hand is if the Broncos start giving the ball away every single time they touch it like the Cardinals did last night.

Denver 27, Carolina 24 with normal blocking Fullback, James Ferentz, plunging in for a shock 1 yard TD carry (his only carry of the day) in the waning seconds of the game.

27-12 Carolina. I wouldn't mind seeing Peyton win his last game, but it's not going to happen.

Wade has the defense perfected, and Peyton is old enough not to make stupid mistakes.

Denver 30, Carolina 24

The Denver Broncos came into the AFC title game with the best defense in the NFL. Wade Phillips’s unit held opponents to league lows for rushing yards per carry (3.3) and net yards per pass (5.1), forcing a three-and-out on 26.5 percent of drives — the fifth most in the NFL. No team allowed fewer points per drive (1.38).

Their linebackers Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware, rank No. 3 and No. 16, respectively, by the game charters at Pro Football Focus for pass-rushing ability out of 101 edge rushers. And they were a problem for the Patriots’ offensive line all game long.

I think this will be a good game largely bc Denvers defense will keep it close. But I don't see Denver scoring anywhere near 30 pts unless they have 2 pick 6s and a punt return td. I'm going with Carolina 24 - Denver 16.

Denver hasn't handed it off to a fullback all season, and I don't think Ferentz has even been on the field yet.

They'll never expect it

Denver has the best defense in the NFL. Seattle had the second best defense in the NFL. Arizona had the fifth best defense in the NFL. How did those last two defenses do against a full throttle Panther offense?

Denver's offense ranks 16th in the league. Seattle had the NFL's #4 offense. Arizona had the NFL's top offense. Both were choked out by a focused Panther defense.

Obviously, none of this means much in a game that's two weeks away and I'm certainly biased but, when Carolina is "on" like they were yesterday, I think they are the most complete team in the NFL...head and shoulders better than anyone else.

Panthers 31 Broncos 17

It's true they won't expect it, but Ferentz came in as a blocking fullback a few times in yesterday's AFC Championship.

I would like to see Carolina win, but the NFL wants Payton to go out on top. Look for a lot of flags in Denver's favor. Broncos win 27-24.

The Panthers are one of the least penalized teams in the league. Denver ranks 11th. that would be a hard sell. A game-changing bad call would be more likely.

Cam Newton will spread the Denver D like a cheap ho.

Carolina's biggest danger could be that they get up and downshift both the O and D. Playing a prevent or even loosening it up would play right into Manning's noodle arm strength.

One of the GOAT got owned by the Denver D. Are you suggesting Cam is a better passer than Brady? If you are, your posts are not to be taken seriously. I think Denvers D is gonna show up big for the Super Bowl.

Joker, you do realize that NE fired their offensive line coach today the day after Brady took more hits than any QB took in a game this year? If NE thought the problem yesterday was a sensational Denver defense would they have fired their coach? I don't think so. Denver has a good D and they clearly did the smart thing in going after Brady but just because that strategy worked against the less protected, smaller, weaker, and slower Brady hardly means it will work against Newton.

Newton will spread the Denver D because Denver fully understands the importance of stopping Newton's feet and the Carolina running game. Newton isn't stupid and will use his arm to cause the Denver D all kinds of problems.

Do I feel that Brady is a better passer than Newton? Don't know, don't really care because it really means very little (if anything) in the Carolina/Denver matchup.

I hate to say it, but I think Carolina is going to boat-race Denver. Lately, Denver doesn't seem to have any will to solve the issues of their O-line. This crushed them a couple years ago, and it's going to crush them now. The Denver GM should be tarred and feathered for wasted the last few years of Peyton Manning's career.

I guess we will have to wait and see, but I don't see a blowout happening like you predict.

The O-Line has been a problem for New England the last few years, they won the Super Bowl with that line, but not because of it. Losing Nate Soldier was big. But, being embarrassed on the national stage like that is cause for change. This line being bad is not a sudden development, though, and he wasn't fired because of one single game.

The Broncos have opted to wear their white uniforms.

Denver has been absolutely annihilated every time they wear orange. They cannot wear blue because they deemed their blues as alternates in 2012 and the NFL does not allow alternates in the Super Bowl.

Also, the Panthers have been avoided black this post season because their only Super Bowl loss came while wearing black.

Phil Simms and Jim Nantz will call the super bowl. Mike Carey will chime in with wrong information every Tim there is an official review. Jay feely will be giving special teams analysis when asked.
