Buc-ee’s getting closer to Iowa!

I’ve defaulted to buck-eez for pronunciation, as well.

But if it has a Louisiana origin.. could be like

Bouchè ‘ s

When I lived in Shreveport I would would ask random people what a "geaux tigers" means but I would say it like "ghee-axe" and I would also bring up the catch from time to time. Back in aughts I had to do a lot of trolling in person to get my fill.

I went to Buc-ee’s for the first time this last week. Actually went twice. The first was a Saturday afternoon near Gatlinburg and I’ve never seen so many people crammed into a store. There were lines at almost every fuel pump (all 300 plus of them), lines for the bathroom, lines for everything. It was nuts and if is always like that my stops would be few and far between.

Then we stopped in Richmond, Ky on a Tuesday mid morning and it was much better. Still an impressive number of people but no lines.

Cheap gas, pristine bathrooms, decent food. I liked it and I’ll return again. Their Jerky counter is a cool idea.

I doubt Bucees cares about Iowa markets. They’re looking for critical mass and huge numbers of travelers.
They will eventually get here.

Intersection of I80-I35 has a massive amount of traffic and the largest population base in the state. At some point there will be one in DSM area

You have to wonder if at some point they grow with smaller secondary locations and put in smaller stores. This could make a lot of sense especially for distribution at points between existing stores. Kind of the same way Kwik Star used their distribution lines to chart their expansion.

Got a sliced brisket sammich from Buck-ee's in St. Augustine at the World Golf Village exit on Thursday.

Unbelievably tender. Better than any BBQ place I've ever been to. My own experience cooking brisket is sketchy.

They know how to cook brisket.

Since Maverick is murdering the best brand name of all time - Kum-n-Go- I may become a Bucees fan.
1. Have a big lunch before you go and drink lots of water.
2. Lock your wallet in your car.
3. Tell your loved ones where you’re going so they’ll be able to find you.
Have fun!

My daughter and I stopped at the Buc-ees on I-10 near Mobile AL and the traffic that was backed up off the interstate exit was handled by several off duty cops. Overflow parking was on the other side of the road in an empty field.
I literally have never seen anything like it.

I was at the same one a couple a weeks ago. We once in the afternoon and early in the morning a few days later and had no problems. Did see the overflow parking area so I assume it does get bad at times. Went to the one north or Atlanta last year and it was a zoo

Only one I’ve ever been to is just east of Mobile AL. Great stopping point on the way to any of the beaches from Gulf Shores to PCB. I usually get the brisket sandwich and a T-shirt with a humorous beaver reference.

I hear about the greatness of Bucee's. Does it really compare to the main I-80 truck stop. You can get everything at that place.

Buc-ees is a big gas station that has somehow turned itself into some kind of viral sensation.

I’ll never go to one again. Super long lines, super huge waits, etc. I guess if you want to go that’s fine but my gosh I do not understand it.

It’s a “one and you’re done” experience for sure. The line just to get into the parking lot can be crazy. Visited one last spring outside of Mobile Alabama and they had off duty police directing the traffic.
Their brisket sandwiches are good though.

Looks like the convenience store equivalent to Disneyworld. Yeah, that would be a NO for me. Not dealing with the traffic and lines.

I'll stick with Kwik Trip/Kwik Star.
