C.Ballard

Ballard was the best defensive player in the last 10 years for Iowa. He might have had the most NFL upside of any of the d line from 08 to 10. Anyone know what he is up 2 now days?
Seriously? So have you been passing the bong with him? He may have had a lot of potencial, but he was hardly either of the things you mentioned. Ever heard of a guy named Adrian Clayborn? Ballard couldn't get off the stuff long enough to pass the drug tests at the combine. Probably why he slid farther then projected in the draft. And as for the last 10 years, I'd throw in a guy like Mike Daniels as well.

Ballard was a damn fine player. Happy he got through Iowa without being suspended. Football wasn't in his heart but he played his heart out here.

Ballard being able to play end & tackle allowed the others to make plays, & Yes ballard was much better college player than daniels. If i remember right i think he had a 1st or 2nd rd grade prior to the draft

All conjecture. There have been LOTs of good defensive players during this time period

I still like the sound of saying Clayborn and Ballard out loud. Can you imagine how many times the opposing head/Oline coaches said ' Clayborn and Ballard ' in team meetings, film, practices, interviews, post game, those years? A BUNCH! Honorable mention...Greenway and Hodge, Long and Harmon.

Carl Davis, mike Daniels and Jaleel Johnson. Where all bigger impact players at the same position.. he was a great hawkeye but he wasn't hands down the best.. heck him and klug where pretty close in their performance

Do your research on CBD before you spout off dumb shit.
Hey Research done... it's an illegal drug.. it's illegal in the majority of the US ..It's legal only in stupid states and furthermore guess what it's a banned substance in the NFL and almost any company . It's a gateway drug as well despite what some deadbeats want you to believe ... do anything more you need to know

Zero respect and tolerance for any current or former players who use or endorse an illegal drug.

Might want to wake up, it's not 1950 anymore. Curious, do you drink and/or smoke tobacco? Ballard is working in a legitimate industry with a product that has been falsely labeled and stigmatized for decades, by many groups especially the alcohol and tobacco lobbyist. You can prescribe components of marijuana that has medicinal benefits without getting you high. You should look into charlottes web...the medicinal benefits can only be denied by those that don't want it to be true and those that form an opinion on stereotypes, false and/or dated information and ignorance. It's sad because millions are denied access to a legitimate option to address illness and pain.

Mary jane should be legal in evry state. Look at important evidence in colorado since they legalized. Crime way down. Revenue way up. Schools getting tons of money from taxes on the stuff. Stuff has tons of medical benefits as well. Only substance with zero physical addiction attributes. Meanwhile states like iowa make pain meds easy to access and we have a nationwide opiate addiction crisis.

U morons on here posting about how it should not be legalized are ignorant to facts and show an inability to admit u r wrong

Here I thought I would have to wait Sunday to hear such B.S.
You sound like a T.V. Minister!

Maybe Cheech and Chong ruined it for us, but I guess we just don't see very many productive stoners out there.

This is exactly the problem, opinions based of stereotypes and false narratives. People from all walks of life, including but not limited to doctors, lawyers, financial executives to school administrators benefit from components of marijuana to address illness, chronic pain and other ailments, including those that suffer from seizures. It's cute but inaccurate and childish for people to point to cheech and Chong and or the image of 'stoners' when discussing this issue and the medicinal values that are readily available but restricted out of fear, misinformation and lobbyist from alcohol and tobacco industries that continue to fight legalization.

Never used tobacco, or marijuana — but I’d have to say that for medicinal purposes the literature is pretty overwhelmingly positive for marijuana. I think there are going to be some states that allow it only for medical uses, and others who see it as an OK recreational drug. Just depends on where you choose to live.

Then there are dumb states like Iowa who do it completely wrong. OK, you can use it for medicinal purposes. You just can't grow it, buy it, sell it, have it, or bring it across state lines. WTF Iowa?

Whatever you may think about that issue, I say good for Mr. Ballard doing what he feels is right, not what everyone expects from him.

Tobacco kills 1300 people daily in US..and it's completely legal! Alcohol & prescription drugs kill hundreds a day...completely legal! Clearly you support hypocrisy if you want to villainize people based on just laws. Your legal drugs are corporate and political ATM machines, your illegal, kills no one drug, not only don't put out the same cash, but would affect the output of the others. Explain to me how the LAW is protecting people? Tell me how this law system you support cares more about our well being, than it does power and wealth? You know little if you think marijuana gateways to harder drugs over it's forced method of supply and distribution. Did your research call states stupid, and people who don't agree with you, deadbeats?

It is just astounding to me that this thread could have possibly become more stupid than the first sentence of the OP. But, it did!
NFL Draft guru Mel Kiper Jr. rated Ballard as one of his top five defensive tackles available in the 2011 NFL Draft, noting that he might even be worthy of a first round draft pick.

No one was double teamed as much as ballard, All the players you mentioned were very good, but I think ballard had the higest ceiling @ the next level, 6'5 285 290 4.7 40yd dash
His ceiling means nothing because he pissed it all down his leg. And NO he was not a better college player or Pro then Adrian Clayborn, Angerer, King, Kirksey.

Mel Kiper isn't much of a draft guru, he just portrays himself as one.

If Ballard were truly worthy of a first round pick, he'd be in the league. Lots of guys fail drug tests due to pot, and if you're a first round talent, they'll find a way to keep you in the league.

Don't forget Big Pharma. That's the current threat to society, legal drugs. In conjunction with doctors they hand out opiates like they are candy. Yep, pot is illegal in the NFL, but the shoot em up and dope em up with legal drugs all day long.
