Can you imagine Iowa

Yes, I can. Tennessee was all that and a bag of donuts and we took them to the wall.

UT was not that good. Texas Tech lot better. We took a UT team that was playing not to lose to OT and then got our azz kicked in OT. Lot of heart by Iowa, but if you want to win at high level, you can't be the 14th in scoring defense in a league of 14teams.

You can laugh but so am I at your stupidity. Quickness and good coaching of defense = no chance for Iowa. God you are a homer.
Hey, I not ashamed to be a Hawkeye fan. Got my degrees there, and I live in Iowa City. I will root for them to the end!

Dude, stop. Tennessee was a top 10 team the whole season. Big dudes playing bad ass defense. Troll somewhere else.

Tennessee has a defensive efficiency ranked 42nd in the country by Ken Pomeroy.

Texas Tech's defense though is other-worldly. It is ranked #1 by Ken Pom and is also the most efficient defense since Ken Pomeroy began his site in 2002. It is just unbelievable how good they are.

So you're arguing along with the OP that we wouldn't get a shot off. Good to know.

Trying to get a shot off against TT.
Iowa could win. Not sure why you think that TT is invincible. They are hot right now.

Iowa could win as TT offense is not solid but MSU couldn’t even penetrate that D and yet you think Iowa could! We can’t even get Jbo open for looks other than last 5 minutes in a game unless he shoots 5’ behind 3 pt line.

TT defense is incredible. They force you to kick it out and b4 you know it it’s under 10 on shot clock and other team is forcing a shot off.

Um.....Tennessee ranked 131st in PPG given up, 10 more PPG than Texas Tech. You guys are complete homers if you think Iowa reaches 60. Michigan State barely got to 50. Michigan scored 44 and the top scoring team in the country didn’t get to 70.

Iowa wins in Vegas on November 29th vs Texas Tech

Iowa - 68
Tech - 59

Headlines will say how the 2019 champs suffered their first loss.

You’re contesting that Iowa would score how many points against TT? I seriously don’t know that Iowa gets to 50 if they played tonight. 60 is out of the question IMO. What’s your number?

Texas Tech will lose a ton of their roster. If Beard can get them back to the NCAA next year he is a wizard. Granted he used transfers this year to turn them from a fringeNCAA team to where they are today.

Also, note that Iowa St beat Texas Tech in Lubbock....so they are like every other team are beatable.

Tennessee was ranked No. 1 in the nation most of the season, but sure, they're garbage and T-Tech is the real thing.

I do hope Iowa's coaches and players have been paying attention so that maybe they'll finally understand what everyone with a brain has known since sports were invented--that defense wins championships--40-minutes of tough, in-your-face defense. And I also hope Iowa does play T-Tech in that tourney next season. Let's see those fellas up close and personal.

ISU beat them in Lubbock and almost beat them in Ames the last game of the year. West Virginia beat them in the first round of the conference tournament.

Would you say 4 perimeter player lineups like ISU plays have more success against TT?

Seems like they are amazing at defending bigs in the lane but none of their guys are really offensive threats down there so they can't hurt you on the other end for going small.

Matchups are interesting. TT would spank Iowa because they take away what we do well. Isu beat them but couldn't defend what Iowa does well.

Hope you are right, but if Beard can bring same defensive intensity with new players they will be very hard to beat IMO.

Let us remember, Texas Tech too Michigan to the woodshed and the beat a great MSU team by 10. I remember hearing about how Cassius Winston was the best guard that TT was going to face and they stifled Mr. Winston for much of that game. How many turnovers did Michigan and Michigan State have against them? Please do not forget how careless Iowa gets with the ball when they get stymied by a stout defense. Iowa could not beat this Texas Tech team but maybe 1 out 10. Texas Tech's defense has traveled through out the Tournament.

Not winning the jump, uncalled travel that led to a Tenn 3 and missed FT led to the loss. Hardly getting our ass kicked.

Michigan was supposedly a great defensive team, too, and Iowa took them to the woodshed. Nobody knows what would happen if they played.

The tourney doesn't crown the best team. It crowns the hottest team.

I would make the Sweet 16 a double elimination scenario.

Will coach get a off-season defensive specialist on campus? Lots on Staff plate. Go Tough Hawk Players.

IMO you are delusional!
I don't believe in absolutes when it comes to sports. Anything is possible. People who think there is always a "sure bet" often end up losing.

I know Iowa's chances would not be good, but with the offensive weapons they have, you can't ever count them out. If they have an off day then yes, it would probably be a slaughter. But Iowa was on more often than not this year.

I think playing big against Tech plays into their game plan even more. You need to have players that can penetrate and move the ball quickly before the Tech D can rotate. The more adept ball handlers you have against them the better. Trying to pound it inside seems nearly impossible against them.
