*****Iowa vs Michigan Game Thread*****

That looked like a foul on the last shot. Refs drunk all game I guess

Would appreciate a replay... But nope.

Feels like a dirty way to end with at really close goaltending call on a shot that looked like a miss.

I'm not convinced that Pryce didn't get a finger on that shot before the goaltending call

Lot of contact on that shot.... No?

Replay? No?

Yeah I wondered about that...Michigan guy went all out to block that. Guess you don't get that call on road.

We got a guys with skills, but too much hero ball and not enough toughness/strength on rebounding. I am not buying Michigan
is best team in B1G. That lineup with two bigs is prone to turnovers.

With the first week of Big Ten play in the books, this season could still go either way for Iowa. There are reasons to be optimistic or not.

If "close, but no cigar" translated to wins, Fran would be at .900+ in his time at Iowa.

Only saw a little bit of the 2nd half, so sounds like that half was a lot better, but Michigan had whatever they wanted down low and that tall white kid (Wolfe?) driving it constantly for layups.

And then watching PaySandfort try and do the same, but completely airball it after getting walled off by 3 guys ...

Yes but MIchigan had two guys under basket and I think they made clear rebound. It is a bit of a foul taste, but I didn't have a lot of confidence in our defense and ability to rebound a miss. Ike you mentioned, Pryce might have been fouled on that last shot and we won't know unless there is replay on YouTube.

Hawks probs dont deserve the W with getting out rebounded like they did… but that defender bodied up PS all the way through the shot
Agree. Also 58% from the line. I give them a hell of a lot of credit for coming back twice in that game. The end of the day with some of the basics that they gotta straighten out.

I'm not blaming the refs. Hawks were terrible again from the line. When you can't hit your free throws you can't blame the refs.
I said we got no help that isn't blame and I have a thread already discussing free throws. Thanks

Nice effort at the end when um started brain farting and looking like they wanted to give it away.
Iowa isn't better than a lot of B1G teams. They're not worse either.
This is shaping up to be a competitive season within the league as no team is great and maybe only one or 2 look bad.
Won't surprise me to see a lot of games like this one that could go either way.

We might be able to eke out wins when we can't throw the ball into the ocean, either from the field or from the line, but we will never win games when we get outrebounded by 15.

Here is the final play. None of the iowa players reacted like there should have been a foul so assuming it was clean.

The bad rebounding was somewhat nullified by all the michigan turnovers, but you cant continue crap ft shooting in big ten games , needed thewell in at the end more over harding for defense

Things that I do not understand about this game;
- keep trotting Dembele back onto the court
- Never taking Pa Sandfort out to settle down when he is obviously out of control
- Thelwell's lack of playing time second half
- Mulvey's lack of playing time second half
- Freeman's terrible FT shooting and why is he gassed, He sat out entire first half for the most part
- Dembele starting and playing time
- why is Freeman so soft, out of shape, and lacks strength after off season
- Player rotations in general
- lack of importance in rebounding
- Bad FT shooting
- McCaffery with his hands in his pockets all the time
I am sure I am missing a few things, but these things tend to occur game after game. I will give the players five stars for effort. Too bad the head coach does not give the same effort.

Just re-watched it, sorry but there was not a blatant foul on Pryce (IMHO) - just a really terrible off balance 'chuck'.

How was Fran not able to draw up a plan to either get it to Payton OR Josh!?!?! Were both these guys double teamed?!
Reverse it. Michigan is down and we do the same thing. No call?
