Well I think they just did.

Not every answer requires some drawn out explanation. And it's not a surprise that a top five national recruit would be beating Hill. Hill is probably better than expected but isn't even a R12 guy.
Not to mention the often spoken comment on here "I think so and so can eventually AA" is a big part of why this program is behind. We are not winning titles, team or individual with lineups of guys who fit into the "he can eventually AA statement". We need definite AAs who can contend for a title.

Most top 5 teams nowadays recruit over those guys. I know it's not the "Iowa Way", but maybe the coaches should consider going that route. Not intending to be harsh here, but your competition looks at this as a business. So should Brands.

We like our guys isn't just something we made up here in the cesspool. Our coaches are loyal to a fault (until they are not, then you are cut off).

We'll stick with a guy who lives the lifestyle, but only a 1x AA, because he's our guy. That's just a part of the reason we're getting lapped.

Honestly, I feel for you guys. It would irritate the heck out of me too.

This is dumb in regards to Bradley Hill. He’s at the same weight as a top 5 overall prospect and U20 world champion. He’s depth and about as good as you can hope for from a guy in a similar situation.

Does Iowa have a smaller roster than other teams?

Not intended for Hill, poor choice of post to quote. He is about as good as one can hope for in a guy not tabbed as the #1 for the weight.

You’d be disappointed if a true freshman that spent 2.5 months in a division one wrestling room isn’t on par with a 4x AA that was also a U23 world champion? Maybe manage your expectations. Obviously Kueter has the chops but not very realistic.
I just hope he manages to put on some weight. None of his past accolades were at hwt, right?

I think you’re right. And unfortunately putting on weight would Probly mean more time in the weight room and less time on the mat getting better at wrestling.

I don't want to read some long drawn out bullshit either, but he could've put in a little more effort than "wrong."

That's just lazy.

The other thing that’s going to be tough for BK is getting to the appropriate size for both sports. It’s hard to put on weight in-season and he basically has no offseason.

in hindsight, he might have been better off not wrestling at all last year and taking that time to put on real size.

Fairly sure BK knew what he signed up for, as did the coaches. It wasn't going to go smooth in year 1 as everyone gets a feel for what it might look like. I'm sure adjustments will be made and BK/staff will do what is best.

That being said, I think BK beats any HWT in the room - he's a freak. It's not happening fast enough for some of you, but he's barely even 1 year in....

His mom was on here not too long ago, and said they are sorting things out with both sports. I assume that means after a few years in both, it will be more clear to him where his future is, then can commit to that sport year round. Will probably have a pretty good idea after this year. I’m sure they know he could be a star in wrestling, so they really are probably trying to access his odd’s of making to and succeeding in the NFL. There are two other stud wrestlers who are trying the same thing, one at Wisconsin and one at Vtech, will be interesting if either of them stick with wrestling.

I think the main question/concern is whether it will be figured out fast enough to get some meaningful mileage out of him in wrestling, or at least realize we won't soon enough to not affect recruiting or development of other hvy alternatives.

I heard Mullen quit football at VT and is focusing on wrestling

Cass hasn't been the same wrestler since he lost all the weight. Don't get me wrong, I'm not knockin the kid for getting in shape - but he lost so much that the other heavyweights can throw him around like a rag doll and he doesn't have the speed and quickness on his feet to counter or overcome the loss in size.. I think his best years wrestling were his Freshman and Sophmore years...
There seems to be an optimal size for people in non weight class sports , wrestling has weight classes but 198 -285 is more of a spread than 125-197.

So yeah, your point makes a lot of sense. This is 174 or 184 to 197, it’s a much bigger fluctuation .
