CBS Mock Draft Has Josh Jackson going 4th overall to Cleveland

I would think they could trade down an get him later but I will lose it if he goes top 5.

Maybe he and fellow Hawk Christian Kirksey can turn things around in that heap, if he does have the joy and pain of going that high and winding up in Cleveland...

Whoever drew up that mock has a screw loose... Minkah Fitzpatrick is the top S/CB with more tape to prove it. I could see him being top 10 but Browns are dumb not to take either a QB/CB or Barkley/QB as I don't think Barkley makes it past the Colts

Minkah is not a good CB. Safety? Yes. Even then he's no ed reed

IMHO Cleveland should wait until round 2 and pick Mason Rudolph of Okie St., who should still be available. Then, by avoiding a QB early, none of whom look to be a Peyton Manning, Elway or Marino, it allows you to pick Barkley first overall then Fitzpatrick with the 4th pick and you have really improved your team.

As we saw, Barkley is a singular talent.

Then they should go after big uglies in the trenches, where you really win games.

If I’m Cleveland I trade up to the third pick using the 4th pick and take Darnold and Josh Allen. If you are going to miss on a QB this year you might as well swing for the fences.

Only way your plan makes sense is if they sign, say, Kirk Cousins and resolve their QB problems via free agency. The Browns haven't had a top tier QB this entire century. They passed on Ben Roethlisberger for Kellen Winslow. Passed on Aaron Rodgers for Braylon Edwards. Passed on Wentz and Deshaun Watson to settle for Kizer, who've they've already given up on.

Barkley is a transcendent player, but great running backs don't change the fortunes of franchises, especially those as beleaguered as the Browns. If anything they should hedge their bets and draft QBs at 1 & 4 to halve their chances of screwing it up. But if they Go Barkley, Fitzpatrick and settle for the 6th best QB in the second round, like you suggest, we can go ahead and write the Browns off for yet another decade.

Lots of these 1st rounders are busts, too, though. Then you have missed out on these two fantastic players.

I do believe they will go after a “serviceable “ QB in Free agency which will free them up to pick Barkley. I don’t think Cousins goes there unless it is a crazy big contract. He wants to go to a winner.

I've seen several mock drafts saying QB at one and Barkley or Fitzpatrick at 4. Either way, a solid haul. Their o-line is supposed to be pretty good, but who knows what will happen with Thomas.

Jacksonville was 5-11, 2-14, 4-12, 3-13, 5-11, and 3-13 from 2011-2016 and then they got Leonard Fournette.

They also spent their entire 2016 draft on defense a year after using their top pick on defense and then used their free agent cap space room on defense as well. Fournette was good for them but he averaged 4 yards a carry in less than 33% of their games this past year. He was not the difference maker.

I read a debate about them picking 2 QB's at 1 and 4. Sounds stupid on the surface, but if they pick one and some other stud at another position, and the QB tanks, they'll still suck and it didn't matter. If one of the QB's works out, no one will care that they wasted the other pick (might be able to trade the other QB in a few years, though) because they haven't had a QB since their franchise started back up. Still don't see them doing it, but when you're that desperate...

Cleveland has pick 1 and 4 and if they don't leave the draft with Barkley they deserve to continue to stink . That guy is the best player in the draft and its not even close.

No way in hell I'd draft Barkley. Time will tell. Bust.

Seems unlikely for JJ to go top 5, but would love to see it. Wouldn't matter if it was Cleveland if he gets paid big time guaranteed money up front. Sure, all players want to win. Ultimately, though, this is a business and the relatively short span of an NFL career dictates making bank while they can.

I had been paying a lot of attention to as many mock drafts that I could find. Here’s the problem: free agency. Nobody really has any idea what an individual team really needs out of the draft until AFTER they sign or don’t sign their free agents.

Once that is over with, then we can start paying attention to these mock drafts. Meanwhile, none of these mock drafts are worth a plug nickel.

Does it tell us the relative values of the draftees? Yes, to an extent, but these are not NFL GMs making these picks, either.

I don't really see why this should be an issue. They'll name a street after him if they go 10-6. Sparty wasn't exactly a world beater when he signed on.

I think we could get a pick in every round.
1) Jackson
2) Daniels
3) Wadley
4) Outlaw
5) Welsh
6) Niemann
7) Bazata

Our other seniors get a bona fide crack at it via UDFA.

Joseys stock will go up, I have talked to some people who are big time Steelers fans who think they pick Josey with the 28th pick in the draft , I doubt He goes that high but like Dez King lots of GMs will be asking why they didn't grab Him when they had the chance, He could have Bob Sanders type culture shift for a defense that's needs a mean streak.
