Who is the new Fever assistant who said he wants CC to just “destroy” opponents this year? Hoping this added physicality helps facilitate that. She's going to be shooting 3/4 court threes next season.
It's a damn shame basketball players, men or women, have to weight train and build muscle to survive. It didn't use to be that way, and it shouldn't be that way now. Strength should have virtually nothing to do with the game. That's what rugby and football and boxing and MMA are for. Basketball was designed, and for nearly a century was played by people with speed, quickness, agility, and grace. Pushing, grabbing, holding, and bulldozing people were not allowed. And the rules haven't changed, so all basketball has to do to get back to that game and end the rugby on the court stuff is to enforce the rules.
"Backing down" is one of the stupidest examples of the modern "physical" game. Every time that happens, by rule it's a gawd damn offensive foul. How is it you can be 100 pounds heavier, bigger and stronger, and gradually bounce your opponent who has established position out of the way until you get to shoot a layup? That's ludicrous.
I liked basketball when you couldn't travel, you couldn't carry the ball around like a football running back, when you couldn't use your strength and weight to gain a physical advantage.
Good for CC so she can dish it out and take it this season, but shame on basketball--at all levels, men and women--for ruining a beautiful game.
I think her 3P% goes up a lot, if for no other reason every starter is now an all star and she should have more room with the ball in her hand, and actually receive some passes for easy catch and shoot shots. Throw in that she has had a lot of time to work on her game and that she’s an apex predator, and I think this year will be bonkers.Who is the new Fever assistant who said he wants CC to just “destroy” opponents this year? I know she started weight training early in the season last year, and I kept wondering if that was messing with her shot. Really hoping that the off-season has given her the opportunity to put on the muscle while simultaneously making any necessary adjustments to her shooting motion.
This. The fact that she's putting in the work, and she has that "Jordan drive" to self evaluate, and continue to improve her skill set speaks volumes.I think her 3P% goes up a lot, if for no other reason every starter is now an all star and she should have more room with the ball in her hand, and actually receive some passes for easy catch and shoot shots. Agreed, truly a shame the way BB has went to full contact sport. It's a damn shame basketball players, men or women, have to weight train and build muscle to survive. The purpose of resistance training (RT) is to primarily improve strength and power. RT can help improve acceleration. The end goal is to build strength, power, acceleration, not muscle. It's a damn shame basketball players, men or women, have to weight train and build muscle to survive.

I posted it in your mega-thread. I want to see her post a 30/20/10 triple double game this year.I think her 3P% goes up a lot, if for no other reason every starter is now an all star and she should have more room with the ball in her hand, and actually receive some passes for easy catch and shoot shots.
