Iowa up to #20 after being unranked last week and beating #6 Ohio State over the weekend. Ohio State fell to #13. Honestly, we are higher than I though we would be. I though we would be like #25 honestly

After we get manhandled by Wisconsin, do you think we will be ranked next week?

I really hate getting manhandled. It sucks when that happens. So embarrassing.

Agree I thought 22-25. Ahead of Northwestern..I know Wisconsin hasn't played anyone but I thought 8 is too low for an undefeated team.

They are hammering Wisconsin on that show...beat down week for Bucky.

The bitch about Wisconsin and I agree to certain extent. Have a feeling Iowa may have gotten bumped a couple extra spots for Wiscy to have a shot at a ranked opponent.
It seems like maybe you're right. I would buy that conspiracy, but hopefully they just think we are that good. :D:p:D:p. We are a littler higher than I had thought we would've been though

Not just for them to play someone who is ranked, but high enough that they can still keep us ranked after our expected loss.

In response to the "Suck it ISU" comment.

No Cyclone fan should be disappointed or upset at their #21 ranking. They are 6-3, bowl eligible, and playing with a 3rd string QB. Kempt has been great, and ISU wouldn't be where they are without him, but he wouldn't be playing had Park not flamed out. Tough loss to WV, but they had the ball in 4th qtr with a chance to win. All is well. I like chances in final 3 games.

Good for Iowa. Great win vs. OSU

Sagarin has Iowa's SOS at #9. Iowa wins out, we COULD be talking about a New Years Six at large?

I don't see why not. Basically need to get to #11. That's only 9 spots up, most of which we would make up this week with a win, especially considering how many teams ahead of us are going to lose due to head-to-head matchups. Also take into account that we can't get a loss on championship weekend.

One of the problems is we would probably be competing with blue bloods from our own conference (OSU, PSU).

It really would be great to play in a big game like that, assuming we're still playing at a high level. But I'll take a great bowl performance for a change, no matter where it is and who it's against.

I'm just really enjoying the fact that a week ago both Cyclone fans and Hawkeye fans were on here ranting about the fact that losing to Iowa would turn out to be a bad loss for ISU. Fast forward to today and we're ranked ahead of them. That's hilarious.

Alabama played a ranked team for the first time this last Saturday (Florida State was ranked when they played them, but turns out FSU sucks and was out of the rankings by their 3rd game). They play another one this week (MS St.), then they play powerhouse Mercer, then finish with Auburn.

does the committee care what someone is ranked when they play or at the end of the year though? Wiscy could play a ranked IA team and MI team....but if they beat them both they could both end the year unranked.
Kinda damned if you do damned if you don't

Son of a bitch. We all might have to be Minnesota fans last game of the Big Ten season.

You better be a fan in two weeks vs Northwestern first if we win this week. I don't see NW losing to Purdue, Minny, or Illinois and they are ahead of Iowa plus the tiebreaker. But even with the title game almost impossible, that doesn't mean we can't still get a big six game if we run the table and a couple dominoes fall our way.

Anyone think we got a little extra push into the rankings so "when Wisconsin beats us" they have a decent win and they can keep the b10 market relevant?

Northwestern is ranked, too.

I have a few thoughts on the latest CFP rankings. On one hand, they are rewarding teams for playing tough schedules and beating good teams......on the other hand, they're also forgiving teams "they" like because they "believe" those teams are still top teams.

How in the f*** are Oklahoma and TCU still ahead of other teams despite losing to Iowa State, while Big Ten teams are being punished for playing and/or losing to Iowa, etc?

Oklahoma State is (well, was now....) overrated btw.

I agree there that theyre not pandering to Wisconsin, or Iowa. "Nobody" wants Wisconsin in the top 4 and the media is already discrediting them for any wins they might get in their remaining schedule, which is dickish of them from our/Iowa's perspective since we have to play them on Saturday..............

Personally, I'm fine with being the a**hole and ending Wisconsin's bid on Saturday. They don't need the underdog, nobody-respects-us run right now. Besides, that sure as hell is not the real Wisconsin we all know, even though the outside media is doing a damn good job of building that story by themselves. o_O

With all that said, this really isn't an argument as the committee will not leave an undefeated Power 5 team out. That'll only happen if there is ever more than 4 unbeatens.......
