Chicago Tribune Sean Foster article... Why he decommitted and Iowa interest

I'm thinking the longer Farniok holds out the more attention Foster will get from Iowa's coaches. In all reality Iowa is in a great position right now in recruiting. Great season - COTY - and very few scholarships to give. Supply and demand baby. Supply and demand.

I could be wrong, but I would be very surprised if Iowa offered, only because the coaches had many opportunities to do so before the kid committed to Minnesota, as well as his entire sr year of football and an offer hasn't been extended. I'm guessing if Iowa misses out on the couple big fish they are after, they will look to fill an OT spot with a walk-on or two and look towards next year for another highly ranked OT.

I agree with you until the last bit. I think if others like Jackson and Faarniok pass us by we dip our toe into Foster's offer list. Next year should be a good one, but we are short on OL prospects for this class.

OT: when is AJ going to commit? :)

Sean Foster said he was “saddened by the recent departures of some amazing coaches and look forward to becoming part of a great university.” Now there's a headline right there. I wonder how many other players feel the same way. I was surprised at the media up there. They didn't question or seem critical of the firings. Actually, they went the other way as in .. this is Claeys team to do whatever he wants. But the people who are most effected (the players) might feel differently. One big thing that has been highlighted about Iowa this year is it's stability and it's players and coaches being one big family. That is something in our recruiting pocket that the likes of Minnesota can't match. The new stadium didn't do it, so now the new, $150 million dollar athletes village is suppose to make the 4 and 5 stars come running to Minnesota.

Everyone should fear isu now. They have offered so with their 30 year old coach it is over isu will now select players instead of recruiting them.

I feel his non offer before may have been a case of him not wanting to wait for senior evaluation or go on the camp circuits (Iowa camps) like Iowa usually likes to do when being very picky and selective on a position they won't be taking a lot....

Maybe now his senior year is over, an offer could come his way. I put Farniok above him with alaric/foster tied #2.

Iowa will know A LOT more after Farnioks visit to NE this weekend...

He can't like it that there are currently 5 DE verbals and 3 TE verbals in this class. Granted 1 or 2 of the DEs may end up moving inside, but right now its a crowded position. But with this years success next year's class should be a really good one.

Exactly my thoughts as well.

Can't agree. AJ is good enough, and I'm sure confident enough in his abilities, that he knows if he comes and competes he can earn a starting job in the first year or two. He's very special.

You may be right. This board has kinda turned on him and doesn't want him. It'll be interesting to see how this plays out. The thing that makes me happy is that Iowa isn't begging to fill out its class. It's a buyers market for Iowa. No need to steal from a MAC school in January.

If AJ is as good as advertised I'd doubt he's worried about other commits
