CJ Fredrick at KY

11 points, 5 rebounds. Misses too many around the basket, but he didn't pull a CJ and disappear.
If he could at least average those numbers it would be good year for him. Again, let’s see what does when the competition improves.

I like his length and because of that his numbers on the glass should be more consistent if his effort level is where it should be. I get it, he hasn’t left the team but there are stretches during the game he does disappear.

If you are talking about Patrick I don’t think that 11 ppg would be good for him. He’s is at 15 now.

And they've played who so far?

As I've stated before if he can make those numbers when the schedule gets tougher, great. I've watched this for a couple years now and he has a tendency to lose sight of what he brings to the court with regards to his physical assets and what those assets should translate into numbers per game. Don't dislike P Mac but his game takes nights off when the team could use more determined glass work, defensive stops instead of losing his man when he double teams out front and better decisions on shots taken. Not an impossible ask for someone that's been around the game as much as he has been.

I can go along with most of your post…….Patrick has been around the gym-supper table talk his whole life. It shouldn’t be difficult to grasp! I often wonder though if it still comes back to his health issues. I also hope the best for him and the Hawkeyes!

Never understood all the angst over CJ leaving. He was never going to be more than a role player on any team. His only strength was as a high percentage 3 point shooter which he never did enough of which partially explains his high percentage.

I always believed that Nunge was a much bigger transfer loss.

Jack's sister put a hurt on the Hawkeyes yesterday in Iowa-Illinois volleyball. CSB

I don’t get all the CJ hate. It’s not like we’ve had even average guard play the past two years since he left. That’s really hurt iowa. He was our best overall guard.
again, it was the manner in which he left that lead to the negative comments.

plus his dipshit uncle proclaiming "help was on the way for UK" 2 plus months before CJ split IC. F--k them

Obviously as fans we never know the entire story, but between what his uncle was saying during the season, and some of the tweets Connor sent out (I believe they were deleted, maybe I'm misremembering the details), it's fair to say this situation was different than someone like Moss transferring.

If a player is unhappy they can leave, but the timing of it was poor and left Iowa is a bad spot.

Fans weren't mad at Moss, or Toussaint or Nunge.

I thought CJ was a great fit for Fran's system. Excellent 3 point shooter, smart player, decent defender and low turnovers. He fit in early. He had a high floor but a lower ceiling, largely due to limited athleticism and to some degree injuries. I actually think he is a better role player with bigger stars around him as he never is going to be a 20 point scorer. In the end, we are happy with Saucy and best of luck to CJ.

Pmac played some of his best ball down the stretch last year and during the BIG tourney, so I think he's already shown that he can fill that role....

Seriously? I'd take Perkins over CJ any day, and CJ isn't a point guard so that doesn't play into the discussion...
I would too. I should clarify. Perkins has a chance to be the best guard Iowa’s had in a long time. But he didn’t start until late last season. More talking about the guard play the couple years before this one.

You and I are watching different trips down the court then.

We’re just gonna have to agree to disagree. He’s shown he can…………………………..but he doesn’t bring it consistently.

Hope he proves me wrong this year because they will need him to show up every game on BOTH ENDS OF THE COURT.

We lost to a worse team than that!

But it's Kentucky so I don't care. I don't like coach Cal.
Unfortunately for Cal, a lot of Kentucky fans are developing the same feeling. They are so spoiled and entitled, that a mediocre season (10-6) like the Wildcats are experiencing now, is not permissible and immediately puts the coach on the hot seat.

We are doing the same with Fran.

Kentucky at Tennessee on ESPN. Close first half. Kentucky starting PG (Wallace) hurt so CJ now running PG at times on offense. 10 early points for him as well. Kentucky 19 - Tennessee 18 with 5:18 left in 1st half.

CJ only hit 32% from the 3 this year. Oof, we got lucky when he left.
