CJ positive rumors I saw confirmed...

That's encouraging news, except the part where Fran said CJ is day-to-day, and "it's just probably going to be like that for the rest of the season."

Really hope he can come back and stay healthy, and help this team get to the Tourney.

This is an upgrade from just a few days ago but I agree with you overall and another posters point that hopefully he isn't needed vs NET 129 NW tomorrow.

CJ or no CJ for NW game, have to assume their game plan defensively will look a lot like Nebby plan when it comes to Garza. Which means it comes down to us hitting shots. And Fran finding a way to get Garza involved in pick n roll more, maybe some high low w Kriener who is a capable low post guy that played well in NW last year.

I would hope that CJ could rest a few more days and gear up for Mich game...but then the Neb game pops in my head and makes me nauseous.

Well let's just hope that 4/33 for 3 was an extreme anomaly.

It was amazing we were within 10 with that shooting.

Northwestern is under contract to play the Under Armour ball...Iowa plays the Nike ball....
Where are you seeing under contract? There was an article posted on one of the major sports media sites interviewing coaches that actually talked about this topic. From that article, it sounded like the home team has a ton of discretion over which ball is used (they can provide any ball that meets the physical requirements laid out in the rule book). I'd be curious if teams have actually entered into contracts about this with equipment suppliers, so if you've seen this officially somewhere, can you point me to it?

Generally teams use whatever ball belongs to their athletic supplier, ie: Iowa is a Nike team, Maryland is a UA team etc...

I hope CJ can get some minutes against the wildcats. We got the improbable win against Maryland and now we need to even our B1G record with a win at NW. Go Hawks!!

NW is in a similar situation with injuries. It’s all in their backcourt. They’ll only play two guys below 6’7’’.

They’re not in a position to play 4 guards like Nebraska. Even if CJ doesn’t play, Iowa will have a much easier time matching up.

The UA ball used by Maryland & NW has been compared to the hard Sterling ball used by Bo Ryan during his great time at Wisconsin.
As Izzo quipped to prepare for Wisconsin “We just went out in the backyard, got a rock and tried to shoot with it.”

Agree, tomorrow is the last thing from a cake walk but a road W we need to have.

KenPom and the Bart Torvik blog (similar) have Iowa a 4 to 5 point favorite. Not a cakewalk. Northwestern isn't good, but this is not a terrible team. Certainly capable of beating Iowa in Evanston if Iowa can't make shots. As others have said. Big Ten may not have a great team, but a lot of good ones, and the ones at the bottom have to be taken seriously. In Big 10 play, Northwestern has lost by 14 to Purdue, 5 to MSU, 9 to Minnesota, 4 to Indiana. Beat Nebraska by 5. If Iowa plays well, it can/should win, but nothing is a guarantee.

They beat Providence, beat BC, close loss to MSU, close loss to Depaul, close loss at Minny and Indiana, and beat Nebby. Not great win/loss but very tough.

Lost by double digits to Merrimack and Radford....and lost to Hartford....

This is a very bad Northwestern team which is going nowhere, and matches up horribly with Iowa. Would be a big disappointment if Iowa did not get the road win here.

*and this is coming from someone who picked iowa over maryland because I understand how hard it is to win on the road in this league. Home court should no way make up for how much worse this Northwestern team is than Iowa. Iowa should win this game going away.

Under Bo Ryan, Wisconsin was the only major school using a Sterling brand basketball. They, fortunately for the rest of the world, switched to Wilson last season.
