Ignoring of course, that he did alot of things well.No truer words ever spoken
We will agree to disagree on that. It's ancient history now anywayIgnoring of course, that he did alot of things well.
He was asked to do a lot of the little things that were needed. Had his last name not been McCaffrey he'd have been a fan favorite for the grit and fight he showed when Iowa needed the tough plays. We will agree to disagree on that. It's ancient history now anyway
Had his last name not been McCaffrey he would have never seen the court his first three years. Are you serious Clark?!? Iowa didn’t need someone to make the tough plays. They needed someone to pair with Luka and Joe W who didn’t shoot 20 some percent from 3 and 33% from the field. He was asked to do a lot of the little things that were needed. Had his last name not been McCaffrey he'd have been a fan favorite for the grit and fight he showed when Iowa needed the tough plays.
Tea leaves?
How old is Fran? Isn’t he pushing 65 now? Seems to be a little old for taking over a program like Butler…dunno though. Fran leaves Iowa to ……retire or work as someone else’s assistant.Raveling setup Dr. Tom...Raveling was underrated for what he created roster wise before he left.
I agree Olson/Miller were top tier coaches and well above average. Dr. Tom did reach Sweet16 on his own, which Fran has never done. I would say Dr. Tom should have made the Final-4 with the talent he had with Raveling's players.
Fran has a record that is a little bit above average...I would guess his overall B1G record after you factor in losing record in BTT is a winning percentage of 52% or so of his Big10 games. I view Big10 winning percentage as the key metric---it is vs his peers. I don't see Fran's record is a problem. It his his lack of NCAA success and never really competing for B1G titles. . It doesn't seem like his teams are capable of making a run in NCAA play because defense is not part of what Fran believes in.
I do feel Fran is setting up the table to be coach at Butler. Matta must be planning on retiring in 2 years. We know Fran grooves on playing his boys and not being able to control the PT for Jack has to be bothering him.. The paycut he will take doesn't matter a lot because Iowa has made him very wealthy.
Only was able to watch parts of the game, but when he launched a 3 it looked pretty bad.Ouch pmac was 1-10 from 3 he looked rushed all game
All true but was an ok defenderThis is an exaggeration of immense proportions. He always was a terrible shooter, couldn’t defend, couldn’t create. That never changed.
No he was as annoying as Zach McCabe. He was a pseudo tough guy on the court. He was the guy who always yanks the ball away like they are some alpha. He was asked to do a lot of the little things that were needed. Had his last name not been McCaffrey he'd have been a fan favorite for the grit and fight he showed when Iowa needed the tough plays.
Would he make Iowa a better team this year?Pmac is averaging 12+ points per game, 4.4 rebounds & shooting 42% from three. Too bad he couldn't do this at Iowa.
It's his 6th year of college, he should be able to handle stiffer competition. His numbers will probably go down with stiffer competition.
