Sending planes back to their starting destination isn't cheap either. My fiance was flying Houston to Medellin. Due to the launch they had to take a path over to Florida instead of south to Mexico. After getting to Tampa they circled for a bit and then were sent back to Houston. Nothing like thinking you are getting to Medellin at 930ish pm and actually getting there at around 330 am. Curious if airlines would have a case against SpaceX for added expenses and lost revenue.

When they used the $8M number, they were referring to transgenic mice.

If you want to claim the "transgender mice" claim, then link $8M worth of studies on hormone therapies aimed at transgender research. Not hormone therapies for things like breast cancer treatments, which is another type of hormone study performed on mice to model impacts for human tumors.
