College GameDay on Brett Greenwood

+1

Someone should send a copy of that story to that tool sportswriter who wrote that KF doesn't care about his players ( rhabdo story).

Great story.

That would be Pat Forde. He's a piece of trash. I exchanged some emails with him after that hack job he passed off as journalism.

Wow. That was awesome. As I said in another thread when Kirk broke down talking about Brett I got a bit teary-eyed. That was a fantastic segment.
As much as I have disliked ESPN lately, I have to give them credit for that great piece about Brett. They really captured the essence of the story and told the it with great care and sincerity.

An incredibly powerful and moving story. After watching that, I hope that no could continue to think that KF doesn't care about his players. Thanks for posting the link.

Between KF being a long tenured coach, at a small state program where football is everything, people calling for KF's head last year, Sashes death, and the whole Greenwood story, and the typical underdog story to boot, I just don't understand how people can hate this team. This is the type of team people usually hop on and praise.

Not sexy enough

Remember, it wasn't until the later rounds that the Russian fans completely turned on Ivan Drago and started cheering for Rocky.

There's still time.

God I love being a Hawk! And I'm with the guy who said he just had somethin in his eye. Me too.

And just as telling as Kirk breaking down is the emotion of Pat. He's in the conversation for toughest sob that ever played at Iowa and the way Brett has impacted him is just amazing.

I am one of those guys who tries to tough it out and fight back the tears if others are around... At the moment in the segment when they asked Kirk about the moment he heard about BG... And slowly Kirk lowered his head and cried.

Man, bring on the watery eyes. Great segment and kudos to everyone involved with BG's continued progress.

It was a very nice story. Nice in the context of Hawk fans also losing Tyler Sash and Roy Marble in the same week earlier this year.

And for me personally, when I just lost my mom less than a week ago only a couple of days after I visited her for Thanksgiving and spent my last hours with her watching the Iowa/Nebraska game last Friday. She and my Dad (who passed a few years ago) both were also very tied to Michigan State where my dad worked as a professor there. So, I guess I haven't spent all of my tears yet this week.

The way the story on ESPN went in more detail and they explained how close they came to losing him, and his fight amongst other good fortune helped him survive and push hard towards being a survivor should be an inspiration to us all after that death of other Hawks earlier this year, and so many others of us who are now facing struggles in their personal lives with death and know others that need that inspiration too while they still live.

You go Brett! If ours and Kirk's tears and your effort can help inspire many to face the tough personal challenges that many face now, you've done the world a lot of good!

I'm not crying.....It's just been raining...On my face.... And if you think you see some tear tracks down my cheeks....Please. Please, don't tell my mates....I'm not crying...No, I'm not crying....And if I am crying.....It's not because of you.....It's because I'm thinking about a friend of mine you don't know who is dying.....That's right, dying....These aren't tears of sadness because you're leaving me....I've just been cutting onions....I'm making a lasagna....For one....Oh, I'm not crying....No...There's just a little bit of dust in my eye....That's from the path that you made when you said your goodbye....I'm not weeping because you won't be here to hold my hand...For your information there's an inflammation in my tear gland....I'm not upset because you left me this way...My eyes are just a little sweaty today.

Could have heard a pin drop during that segment in Indy at the show. Everyone stopped what they were doing and watched, even the Gameday guys on the show. At times during those segments, theyre on their phones, getting makeup, etc...........Not on this one, they were all dialed in like the rest of us.

I was in a packed bar when that segment came on and everyone shut and listened. I couldn't believe that many people who had been drinking for a few hours would all just stop having their conversations so they could watch and listen. Was really a great experience. It helped that the bar was 95% Hawk fans.

I was at the Game Day set too. You could hear a pin drop. Everyone just started at the screen and tried to hide their tears.
