Yeah that was tough , Marinelli probably shouldn't have had the takedown, and if so, probably gets called for locked hands, but Goodale blew his challenges.
But Marinelli outmuscled, out toughed Lewis, got in on him maybe 5 times, the few times Lewis got to his legs, Marinelli swatted him away like a gnat. That match wassn't as close as the score.
Richie Lewis was running away from him the whole match. Had no idea he would be as scared of Bull as he was. Now I can see why.

He wasn't scared, he was gassed, and knew the bigger Marinelli was stronger and just as fast. I don't think Lewis had practiced much since his last match at Poland. But he was game for bumping up, either that or couldn't make weight, lol
Marinelli takedown was taken off and the locked hands, well that was Lewis trying to be slick and take a knee. Maybe knowing the situation, but weak sauce if you ask me. Bitches do that stuff in basketball. Maybe could have used the challenge in the Gunther match if that is what you are thinking.. A few things there but Gunther got it done.

The deliberately taking a knee to get locked hands is a technical violation in the HS rules. I don't know how they rule it in college. Plus, reaction time is to be considered.
I never see them call locked hands when a guy tries to drop a knee quick like that. Even the ref knows it is BS.
You appear to be confused. Goodale successfully challenged that TD and they restored the time on the clock. Locked hands is moot. Never happened.
Well if they would have allowed the TD it would have been 6-2 he had the take down right after his escape score was 4-2 then Lewis got to his feet and was trying too escape. Guess have to watch replay.
Nice post - When we Iowa guys get done pissing and moaning at each other for the next few hours we might find time to say that your program is coming along pretty darn quickly. We all know that the talent in your backyard is amazing and will only get better.
Pretty much what I'd say, and they're definitely not the bottom feeders in wrestling. I remember a lot of people saying Goodale wasn't a D1 coach, although I think Pritzlaff has a lot to do with recent improvement. They're deinitely better than Maryland and Indiana, and probably better than MSU, Northwestern, and maybe Wisconsin this year.

Goodale at the 5:42 mark hits the nail on the head. "I don't know if they're the best athletes." Recruit the best athlete/good fit over good athlete/best fit.
