Connor “the General” McCaffery

I've also had to question the intelligence of some folks that have continuously bashed Nunge when all the kid does is lead the team in rebounds per 40 by a wide margin. The team is almost always better when he's out there and yet you see the same crap about him even after a stellar performance. It's mind boggling sometimes.

Calling “Sleeping Dog”.

No. There’s a big difference between having one of the best teams in the country in any given year and having one of the best programs in the country.

A coach who has never won a conference title or a conference tourney title or even been to a sweet sixteen or been higher than a 7 seed ... has not “built one of the best programs in the country.”

It was a silly statement.
Ok, sorry for the silly statement ... so, had Steve built a great program since he won two conference tourneys? :)

“based on attending Bowl games and regional ncaa basketball matches for decades,”

so it should be ‘regional basketball matchups’
Thank you for the clarification. Most would use ‘games’
Yeah, you’re

really? So you would use the word “game” twice in one sentence? Ok, thank you for the great tip. I noticed you skipped addressing your masterpiece above. Let’s see you edit that one into a meaningful sentence.

Lol....not one of my best posts.
See how easy that is? Or you can continue to double down.

Come on, CID.... I’m sorry but you’re the one who keeps doubling down, questioning my credibility, picking on my choice of words, wondering why I’m calling people who are asking the coach to bench one of the most effective players in the history of the league, idiots, (a guy who’s 3rd all time big ten 3-point-shooter, first in school history, soon to be the assist leader, someone who’s been a true Hawk) and all this after 2 hip surgeries (most people aren’t the same after a spasm in their back)... seriously, if you were the coach and looked at JBo’s resume vs Perkins or Ulis right now, who would you trust to lead your team? I’m sure these young kids tine will come, but this is not the time.
Anyway, be well, be safe, I’ve been a Hawk fan for too long to hate my fellow hawk fans —- I just get infuriated with these idiots who keep posting about who should play and who shouldn’t only because they have watched them play for a couple of minutes here and there, and mostly when we are ahead. Cheers 🥃🥃

I knew a man of your impressive erudition would understand the concept of “necessary but not sufficient.”

Anyway you proved the point better than I did with your example. As you noted, Alford accomplished more than Fran has (in less time) including earning a three seed. And, as you noted, of course he had not built one of the best programs in the nation when he tucked tail and headed for the giant trailer park in NM.

Nice work.

I think there is a balance and that different times and situations in games require some different combinations on the floor. JBo is very accomplished but it is tough to watch the defense when you have JBo, Garza and Cmac on the floor at the same time. I don't think benching him is the answer but some adjustments could be made. You will always have the extremists on message boards, it doesn't make them 'idiots' any more than my poor grammar in a post or using basketball matches does. I tend to go with less name calling and labeling. I am good with having my errors pointed out to me as well as pointing out others errors.

Btw, I always enjoy reading your posts. Cheers. And go Hawks tonight. Just curious, do you think Lute was the best coach we ever had? Would you put Dr. Tom up there as one of the top two or three? I miss some of those years and occasionally catch an old game on YouTube.

Again, just for fun please read the newest thread on JBo by GOHOX 69. The embodiment of an idiot poster who doesn’t know what he’s talking about. He posted this in the middle of a game Iowa won against Wis on the road.
