Cordell Pemsl Breaks Record Video

His team lost a game early this year when everyone was jacking up threes and and they missed a ton and lost by one or two, so the coach is on their cases. They play a very tough schedule the rest of the way, and Cordell is not going to shoot threes when the team has five or so players who shoot it better than he does. Wahlert just does not have the luxury of playing weak teams and building a big lead. Pretty much every game is a fight just to win, in the big-school MVC Conference.

Cordell has the body type that is very hard to move off the block. My old coach called it a caboose. And it's a good thing to have in the low post.

Pemsl has only made 1 three-pointer this year. I'm not counting on him to be a high volume three-point shooter like Niang or Valentine.

This is obviously just a pick-up style game but the kid can shoot it. He may not be asked to do that in high school but spacing is much more important at higher levels. He's bigger than everyone in high school I don't blame him or his coach for dominating kids physically down low, but that won't be the case in college. Baer made one three in high school, kids develop their game. It's much more than threes though, Pemsl handles like a point and has great vision. May never did that throughout his career, let alone in high school.

It will be interesting to see how the coaching staff wants to use Pemsl. The videos I have seen of him are from his high school games, and in those he appeared to be a skilled back to the basket player that could make mid-range jump shots and handle the ball on the perimeter when needed. That's why I thought he looked a bit like Sean May because neither have terrific height or athleticism (May was listed at 6-9; Pemsl at 6-8), but they both have big bodies that can help create space to get their shot off in the paint, as well as rebound.

In the linked video it appears as though he is capable of being a perimeter-focused player. He is a bit of a tweener, which is another way of saying he is versatile, and McCaffery really likes that in players.
