Cybertruck

He didn't remove the A pillar. That's the what the trim was connected to.

With that huge ass pry bar I could remove all the trim from any car.

This guy used a screwdriver to take the trim off a Honda Element's A pillar.

Obvious takeaway is that Honda makes trash cars, right?

1. Your own video shows him using a tool and having to walk that tool down the entire panel. Not peeling it off by hand.

2. You asked if a pry bar could be used remove trim from my truck…which is still a “no,” as it doesn’t have similar “trim” at that location.

Out of curiosity, how many Honda vehicles have you seen with trim flapping in the wind while driving? Have you looked at your own vehicle’s construction?

Because he's trying to not break it because it's plastic.
The guy in the other video is encumbered by no such compunction.

I never confuse my personal experience with the sum total of reality.

Rear flapping noise

Has anyone encountered this noise as well? It sounds like something loose is flapping in the rear of the truck at highway speeds. It can get very loud at times. There is nothing in the bed or the trunk other than the spare. Thanks for any help.

-----

Check your rear roof trim. This one-piece component may develop weak plastic clips on the forward section and prop up where it can get caught up in the wind on highway speeds. The fix is to replace these plastic clips or clip receptacles with newer units.

You’re right, he is worried about damaging a plastic part he is replacing. It’s not that he can’t get good leverage, and the piece is fixed to the vehicle better than the trim on the cybertruck. Regardless, I don’t drive an Element and haven’t promoted it as the benchmark for design/production.

Pick most trucks…look at an accord (sticking with Honda). 4Runner doesn’t have this issue.

Rear roof noise from loose trim (not on the a pillar) = large a pillar trim peeling off the cybertruck? 😂

I’m not confusing my experience with the sum total of reality. You asked a question, directed at a specific vehicle (someone’s truck). I answered it that way. Why won’t you investigate your own? Fairly simple to do.

Let’s also not conflate any and all trim on vehicles with what was shown in the cybertruck video.

You want all of them? Let’s start with the 4Runner. How about you?
'23 Ridgeline.

Does your 4runner have this door trim?

https://www.toyota-4runner.org/4th-gen-t4rs/227241-loose-trim.html

I noticed this part of the plastic trim (circled) on the rear passenger side door is loose. I can pull it away from the door.
Is there anyway of reattaching it? I was thinking of 3M exterior mounting tape unless you guys have a better way.

Yup, my trim flaps. it came loose a while back. I actually saved the little broken clip that fell out of the door the day it happened.

https://www.reddit.com/r/4Runner/comments/1bjrlm1/this_strip_always_comes_off_when_i_go_through_the/

This strip always comes off when I go through the car wash. No clue why

Conversation about car washes aside, the only time this strip comes off is on the dry portion of the car wash, and only in the driver side. I have no clue what the strip is called or why it’s coming out/off.

Any advice or suggestions on how to prevent it??

Mine also, I pop it back in

-----

Same for me, drivers side. I used to pop it back in until I lost it completely. Based on what I can tell, not having it hasn't impacted anything.

-----

I brought it up to the dealer and they warrantied it. Apparently the rav 4 had it as a known issue for a while, and the fix is the same. Hasn't come off since.

Look at that shoddy design and manufacture, amirite?
Same problem on two different models? Get yer shit together, Toyota! 🙄

None of that is on the A pillar. JFC you’re terrible at this. Weather stripping? Double JFC.

You are now pointing out components that are meant to be replaced/modified/upgraded. 😂

Damn you Toyota!

'Yeah, the trim falls off these cars, but it falls off there, not here, and that makes it totally acceptable.'

Triple JFC.

If only that were my argument. JFC 4X. Can you pry off the exterior “trim” on my 4Runner’s A pillar? Yes or no?

Plus....you can buy new plastic "clips" on Amazon to reattach those. They come in lots of various sizes. Super easy to fix.

When Cybertruck (costing 2x as much) holds on with basically "glue", I suppose you can try gluing it back on.

If only that were my argument.
Let's go to the first post on this subject in the thread, from me:

So you can pull the trim off with a pry bar?
Is there a dealership lot you couldn’t do the same thing to every vehicle?
This is…. odd.

The A pillar was your fixation, so I provided an example of trim removed with a tool from the A pillar of a Honda Element, proving my point.

I then found pictures for you of trim coming off a 4Runner (in the car wash, no less!).

But that's not good enough.
You want me to find evidence of a piece of trim being removed from a part of your vehicle that doesn't have trim?

JFC²

You're so disingenuous it must reek.

If I use this tool can I take the trim off your truck?

Or3MAur.png

No. Feel free to investigate the construction of your vehicle’s A pillar, and see if you can pop the edge, and then peel it back by hand.
You provide a still, and ask if I/you could take the trim off my truck… which I reply to and clearly reference the A pillar (as shown in the picture you provided), and the method that was shown in the video.

I then ask you to examine the same area of your vehicle and provide feedback. Instead you post purposefully removable items such as weather stripping and wheel well flares (which I have modified myself). Do you believe that the trim removed from the A pillar of the cybertruck (that extends to B pillar) is purposefully removable, with the intent to replace/modify/upgrade? Much in the same way wheel well flares are? Saying yes would seem rather disingenuous.

The point I (along with others) have been trying to express, and have been absolutely consistent with, is that is not a usual spot for “trim,” and that you can’t replicate that on my vehicles. You can’t even do it on any other Teslas.

Do you honestly believe anyone in this thread thinks you can’t remove/destroy parts of any vehicle using tools? You think that’s my argument? If so, you aren’t a serious person.

So…to the questions you have evaded:

1. Can you remove the exterior “trim” of my 4Runner’s A pillar?

2. Can you on your vehicle?

TIA

"If I use this tool can I take the trim off your truck?"

I said the trim, and I meant ALL of it. I could remover every bit of trim on every car in a dealer's lot with that tool. Guaranteed.

If you want to bring your 4Runner to the first Iowa-FSU tailgate in Tally I'll prove it.

Sorry you misunderstood and went down a rabbit hole.

All trim is removable. Especially with a giant pry bar.

No, that's why the guy used a huge prybar.
I simply pointed out that demonstrates nothing, because you can remove the trim from any car with a prybar.

WTF does it matter if it is on your car?
I provided you an example of another car with trim on the A pillar that can be removed with a tool.
Does every Honda have trim on the A pillar? No, but the one that does, it can be removed with a prybar too, like the Cybertruck.

Do you honestly believe anyone in this thread thinks you can’t remove/destroy parts of any vehicle using tools?

Ask the guy who posted a clip of someone using a giant prybar to remove/destroy parts of the Cybertruck. It apparently made an impression on him.

So…to the questions you have evaded:
1. Can you remove the exterior “trim” of my 4Runner’s A pillar?

Why would you ask if a piece of trim your vehicle doesn't have is removable?

I don't think I could remove your head from your ass with the prybar that guy was wielding.
I'm not even sure Archimedes could calculate the length required.

You knew full well we were discussing the A Pillar, and it’s exactly why you provided the Element early in the exchange…a vehicle I do not own, btw. That’s when you went looking for any type of “trim.” Everything that followed was simply you attempting to look less like a moron (no such luck). Every post of mine has made clear the location I am referencing. Your failure to comprehend is an ongoing issue. Rabbit hole? You are the one doing all the google searches for images and message board content. Quit with the gas lighting.

Why does it matter if it’s my car/truck? You posed the question that way. Forgot already? Scroll up.

Why would I ask you to remove something that isn’t there? To prove you can’t…which backs up my assertion. That concept is simple, yet fully escapes you. I have also typed it as “trim,” which would have clued you in a long time ago.

That “huge” pry bar isn’t even required. A much smaller tool, and three fingers is all it takes to strip that panel back. In some instances, shown in this thread already, all it took was a little wind.

After all your flailing, you still won’t answer questions 1 and 2. Hilarious. Bitch made.

You keep using the term trim, where really the argument could be made that stainless steel sheet metal part is considered a body panel. The only real argument against that distinction is the poor implementation by the manufacturer.

Also, why an Iowa-FSU tailgate? You think I’m an Iowa alum/fan? More evidence you are dumb AF. Why pick a game that may never occur? I’ll be sure to let you know when I’m in town, or you can bring your bitch ass to SMU. I’ll be sure to bring a step stool for you, little buddy.

What’s worse, having your head up your own ass, or someone else’s (Elon’s)?

In the end though, after being bloodied, you finally have agreed you can not replicate what was done to the cybertruck to my vehicle. Apreesh.

I saw a white cyber truck in CR over the weekend. Are people having them “wrapped”, or something, because the stainless steel is pitting or possibly rusting? Wasn’t sure why it was white, unless they are now coming in colors? I don’t know much about them.

PSA: check the lug nuts on your cybertruck wheels.

“If I had a socket set and a 4ft breaker bar, could I loosen and remove the lug nuts from your truck?”

'Hideous piece of road garbage': Inside the Tesla Cybertruck's 110,000-member mockery club

You can log on, and one day you’re looking at somebody trying to put it up on a ramp unsuccessfully,” he said. “The next day, you’re looking at raccoons mistaking it for a dumpster, and then the following day, you’re looking at a side panel falling off onto the highway.”
The raccoon jokes, he said, were among his favorites on the forum, prompted by a CybertruckOwnersClub.com post showing a camper’s ripped-up truck top.

Yes...even the raccoons think it is a dumpster...

What are they going to figure out? Listen I’d love a Tesla but that thing is ridiculous. I saw one in the wild for the first time this week and it’s just silly. It looks like the old wood models you’d carve when I was a kid, except nobody bothered carving it.

“The Cyberbeast is a game changer. I'm a life long Ford diesel guy but this Cybertruck has opened my eyes on how cool Teslas are. I still have my Superduty and it's even the brand new High Output 6.7 diesel but now it feels like l'm driving a gutless school bus that's hard to control.

In other words…. “figuring it out.”
