I just find the video on YouTube, I’m sure it won’t be there forever with b10 copyright and such.still not sure how you do this, but you Rock
Tim ain't working with his best fastball anymore...I like Tim Johnson but calling Echemendia a “great young man” was possibly his worst ever moment.
No shit (as jim gibbons would say)Tim ain't working with his best fastball anymore...
Johnson has no clue, just Johnson talking to be talking.I like Tim Johnson but calling Echemendia a “great young man” was possibly his worst ever moment.
Are you implying that choking your wife/girlfriend out doesn't qualify you as a great young man?I like Tim Johnson but calling Echemendia a “great young man” was possibly his worst ever moment.
The fact that the BTN sent its 6th string to cover Iowa v Iowa State tells you everything
Gable was the best commentator at the table.Calling Dan Gable a 6th stringer is something.
I immediately cringed at that comment, too. People typically assume wrestlers are outstanding young men and upstanding citizens, which is true of a larger majority than you find in general society, but not every one and Ech is a clear exception. I'm surprised he was that ignorant of Ech's past given that it led to his demise at tOSU and a year in wrestling purgatory.I like Tim Johnson but calling Echemendia a “great young man” was possibly his worst ever moment.
That was nowhere close to their 6th string. I've seen many BTN+ matches where the commentators were just kids from the school's SID who didn't even know the rules or scoring of wrestling. The fact that the BTN sent its 6th string to cover Iowa v Iowa State tells you everything
BTN+ has had issues with the clock in every match I've watched so far. In the Illinois-Missouri match, the clock never went to zero. Once it hit 1:00, it turned over to 1:59 and counted down to 1:00, and then the period ended. It was really aggravating until I figured out what was going on, then just laughably absurd after that. In Cy-Hawk, I noticed a couple times they didn't show the correct period. All broadcasts have been slow to update scores as if they don't know how to score the trickier parts of the scoring.I didn't think the commentary was that awful outside of a few moments, but the overall production left a lot to be desired. I would expect this wrestling Bellarmine but for the IA/ISU matchup it's pretty disappointing.

Dan Gable was a guest commentator because he was in the building. He was not part of the actual assigned team.Calling Dan Gable a 6th stringer is something.
Definitely what happened. And Frost( the ref) made a mistake by not letting Block switch his choice. Once the ref sets the bottom wrestler thats when the choice can't be changed. Johnson on the broadcast says something about it when it's happening said Block chose down but now wants neutral but the ref said no you made your choice he said something along those linesTom and staff have been getting a lot of flack for Block choosing down in the third.
But it looks like Block starts to go down - looks at the corner and then signals to the ref neutral - on the broadcast they mention the ref won't let him because he already signaled down - starts at the 28-minute mark
Anyone else see it this way?
Not true about when a wrestle can and cannot change his choice. Some refs are just more lenient in allowing a wrestler to change his mindDefinitely what happened. Would have been nice if Frost would have allowed the change after Block got coaching. But, my opinion is probably wouldn't have made a difference, Block looked too gassed at that point. Not true about when a wrestle can and cannot change his choice. True, most wrestlers are outstanding young men and upstanding citizens, but not in isu's case. They are the opposite, with only a small percentage of the team being good citizens and the rest are not good people. And Dresser & Co know that when recruiting but don't seem to care.I immediately cringed at that comment, too. Illegal fist to the back, anyone? Definitely NOT a room guy…That was nowhere close to their 6th string. I've seen many BTN+ matches where the commentators were just kids from the school's SID who didn't even know the rules or scoring of wrestling.
Well according to a ref I spoke with who's done over 10 NCAAs that's the ruleNot true about when a wrestle can and cannot change his choice. Some refs are just more lenient in allowing a wrestler to change his mind
Cool. But thats not the rule and like i said, some refs are more lenient on when they allow you to change your mind vs. making you go with your first choice.Well according to a ref I spoke with who's done over 10 NCAAs that's the rule
I don't believe it's written anywhere. But according to the official thats how they're instructed to handle it. I will go with what he said over a random poster.Cool. Ok,......but it actually is written somewhere- specifically, its in the wrestling officials case handbook and manual.I don't believe it's written anywhere. But according to the official thats how they're instructed to handle it. I will go with what he said over a random poster.
What section so we can look it up?Ok,......but it actually is written somewhere- specifically, its in the wrestling officials case handbook and manual.
Appreciate it. Should solve the debate. But much like the stalling rules they are pretty flexible in the enforcement.Section 14. Choice of Positions Art. 1. Dual Meets — Regulation Time. At the start of the second period, the wrestler who has the choice may select the top, bottom or neutral position, or defer the choice until the third period. Once the wrestler with the choice indicates their choice of position and the referee confirms the selected position, the wrestler may not change the choice of position.

Thanks for posting it for me. Like i said, officials enforce.it differently and some will allow a wrestler to change, but by the letter of the law, once they say it and you confirm it as an official, you are technically supposed to stick to it.
When i officiate, if there is any doubt i will often restate the question or what they said just to be sure. Sometimes i even tell the wrestlers to look at his coaches before confirming. And yes, sometime wrestlers will say something but their hand motions will contradict it. Like sometimes a wrestler will say both up while giving a single thumbs up which could be considered as saying top. That is why you should always be clear and then always confirm the selection (and if they object or change as soon as i confirm, i let them change . But some officials dont
Thanks for posting. I have definitely seen it happen many different ways . The ref I spoke with must not feel it's confirmed until he sets the bottom guy. He said thats how they're told to do it . I have seen many refs who look at the coaches and wait until they tell the athlete and then they look at the athlete.Section 14. Choice of Positions Art. 1. Dual Meets — Regulation Time. Yes I watched that, that was crap. They also let the Rams run a play and didn't see the Eagles coach throw the challenge flag but went back after the play was ran and looked at the challenge. 2 huge plays in that game.not sure if you guys watched sunday night football but Rams got a penalty and eagles declined. Rams set up to go for it on 4th and the refs let the eagles enforce the penalty lol.
