What area you talking about. Allowing the son of a coach to walk on to the team is nepotism? He certainly looks a lot better than Little Lick who got substantial minutes for the Hawks.
Substantial minutes? How many a game? How many in his Iowa career? I could care less but the fact of the matter was we didn't have a pg. Lickliter was bad and his kid had no place being on the team even as a walkon but to make it worse than it was is unnecessary.

Nepotism -- The act of using your power or influence to get good jobs or unfair advantages for members of your own family.

What unfair advantage does he gain? Scholarship - no? Paying tuition - no? The opportunity to compete the same as any other walk-on -- no? Being held to same academic guidelines as every other athlete at Iowa -- no?

Like literally anybody can be a walk on. A coach can choose to limit the number of walk-ons or have try outs for walk-ons to ensure they can compete and won't be wasting everyone's time in practice but walk-ons are only promised an opportunity to compete. Nothing else.

The kid probably just wants to play with his dad and against higher level competition as I'm sure dozens of other coaches kids want to do.

Seriously the idea that this is nepotism is the dumbest thing ever

Yes, and you can throw Izzo on the nepotism hit list as well. What a crock this whole notion of favoritism is. I have seen and heard Fran chew out his own sons for bad plays about as bad as anyone could be. He doesn't pull any punches for his boys and if anything is harder on them than the other players.

Looks like a shorter Joe T, at least while playing against lesser competition. Let’s hope his game can similarly bring some energy and intensity to the court, especially defensively, even if only in practice.

The depth we are building with walk on's helps a ton keeping practices competitive, especially with the added athletiicism of these guys. They have some upside too that normal walk ons wouldn't have. These trolls yelling nepotism don't understand. Maybe Fran's boys get a bit of a break in PT, but it's not a ton more than they deserve with a neutral coach, and I don't have any issue with it.

Well now we know why they hired Courtney as an assistant. Was this one of those NIL package deals?

That honestly made me laugh. The Iowa way... we will steal your walkon by hiring his dad!

For the record, no problem with this pickup. Looks to be a guy to give our guards fits in practice. What we need.

“Like literally anybody can walk on.”

Not even remotely close.
